What We Do In The Shadows The Trial

Okay, let's talk about something a bit… controversial. Something that might make some What We Do in the Shadows fans clutch their pearls.
The Trial: A Necessary Evil?
I'm talking about "The Trial." You know, the episode in season one where our favorite vampires face the Vampire Council?
Hear me out. I think it's...overrated.
Must Read
Before You Stake Me
I know, I know. It's got immense star power. Tilda Swinton! Paul Reubens! Evan Rachel Wood looking incredibly badass!
Big names! Cameos galore! It’s a fan-service fiesta.
But is it actually that funny?
The Jokes: Hit or Miss?
Some of the jokes land, sure. Nadja's constant horny pronouncements never fail. Lazlo’s theatrical declarations are always great.

But a lot of the humor feels…forced. Like they’re trying too hard to cram in as many celebrity references as possible.
It’s like, “Hey, look! It’s Wesley Snipes! Aren't we clever?”
Pacing Problems
The episode feels… long. Like, really long.
Especially compared to other episodes in the season, it drags. The trial itself feels like it goes on forever.
I start checking my phone, which is vampire sacrilege, I know.

Lost Potential
I love the idea of a Vampire Council. The potential for inter-vampire politics and ridiculous rules is HUGE.
But this episode doesn't quite deliver on that potential. It’s more about the cameos than the actual story.
I wanted more vampire bureaucracy, less celebrity parade.
What About the Stakes (Pun Intended!)?
Are the characters really in danger? Do we ever feel like they're actually going to be punished?
Not really. There's a certain plot armor that makes it hard to take the threat seriously.

It’s fun, but a little hollow.
Unpopular Opinion Time
Maybe I'm just a contrarian. Maybe I just have a weird sense of humor.
But I think "The Trial" is one of the weaker episodes of season one. Other episodes are simply funnier.
Sue me! (Please don’t, I don’t have centuries to fight a legal battle.)
A Guilty Pleasure?
Don't get me wrong, I still watch it. I still chuckle at some of the jokes.

It's a fun episode. But it's not the masterpiece everyone makes it out to be. Maybe I like the small-scale episodes where they interact more with humans?
Maybe the vampires should stick to Staten Island.
Agree to Disagree?
So, what do you think? Am I completely off my rocker?
Do you worship "The Trial" and think I'm a heretic?
Let me know! But be gentle. I’m easily staked… emotionally.
