What Did Meg Do In Family Guy Season 19

Let's be honest. Sometimes we watch Family Guy and forget Meg is even there. Season 19 was no exception, right?
She's the butt of the joke, the family punching bag. Did she even do anything memorable?
Meg's (Mostly) Miserable Existence
Okay, so what did happen with Meg Griffin in Season 19?
Must Read
Well, she continued to be, well, Meg. Expect the usual: awkward situations and parental neglect.
She probably got made fun of at school a bunch. And of course, Peter made fun of her, possibly by calling her names.
Remember the episode where the family goes to Italy? Yeah, Meg wasn't exactly living her best life there either.
The Forgotten Storylines
Did Meg have any truly defining storylines? Arguably, no.
It felt like she was more of a supporting character, even to the furniture.

Maybe there was a brief love interest that didn't work out? Let's be real, that's her usual routine.
Honestly, I think the writers just enjoy torturing her. I know that sounds mean.
"Shut up, Meg!" - Peter Griffin (pretty much every episode)
But, come on, it's basically a running gag at this point.
There might have been an episode where she tried to be cool. Which backfired terribly, naturally.
An Unpopular Opinion: Meg Deserves Better?
Here's where I might get some hate. I kind of feel bad for Meg. (Don't judge me!)

Yes, she's awkward, and yes, the writers intentionally make her pathetic. But sometimes, it's just sad.
Wouldn't it be cool to see Meg actually win for once?
Like, maybe she saves the day or finds a genuine friend who appreciates her.
Instead, she mostly gets crapped on by her family and the whole town of Quahog.
I know Family Guy is supposed to be edgy and irreverent.

But a little bit of Meg-redemption wouldn't hurt anyone, right?
Maybe in Season 20? (Okay, probably not.)
So, What Did Meg ACTUALLY Do?
To be brutally honest, Meg mostly existed as a plot device in Season 19.
She was there to be ridiculed, ignored, and generally miserable.
It's a sad, but often humorous, truth about her character.

Did she grow as a person? Probably not. Did she learn any life lessons? Unlikely.
Will I still watch Family Guy and occasionally feel a pang of sympathy for her? Definitely.
Maybe one day, the writers will surprise us. But until then, we have to endure the usual Meg-abuse.
It's a love-hate relationship, really. We hate seeing her suffer, but we also kind of expect it. Is that bad?
Ultimately, Meg's role in Season 19 was to be Meg. A character everyone loves to hate. Even though maybe, just maybe, she deserves a little bit of love too.
