Trails Of Cold Steel 1 And 2 Switch English

Okay, let's be real. You've seen the memes. You've heard the whispers. Trails of Cold Steel. It's... a lot.
I'm here to talk about Cold Steel 1 & 2 on the Switch. Specifically, in English. Because that matters, obviously.
So, I Played Them. Sue Me.
Yeah, I jumped into the world of Erebonia. I spent hours with Rean Schwarzer and the rest of Class VII. Did I regret it? Unpopular opinion: Nope.
Must Read
Look, I know. "Anime school simulator meets political intrigue" sounds like a recipe for disaster. And sometimes, it kinda is.
The Good Stuff (According to Me)
The characters? Surprisingly endearing. Sure, some are walking anime tropes. But hey, at least they're consistent anime tropes!
The combat is actually pretty fun. It's turn-based, tactical, and you can break things with arts and crafts! What's not to like?

Plus, getting to explore the world of Erebonia is kinda neat. Train rides, field trips, and discovering the secrets of a continent. Very slice of life!
The... Less Good Stuff
Okay, let's address the elephant in the room: The pacing. It's...glacial. Prepare to spend hours bonding with your classmates over tea.
And the "romance" options? Uh, let's just say they're...there. Don't expect anything too spicy. It is what it is!

The story can get convoluted. Seriously, tracking all the political factions and historical events is a job. Grab a notebook and some coffee.
The Switch Port: Worth It?
Honestly? If you're okay with the aforementioned caveats, yeah. Playing Cold Steel 1 & 2 on the Switch is a comfy experience. Portable Erebonia!
Being able to grind levels on the bus? Priceless. Sneaking in a few battles during lunch? Divine.

The graphics aren't exactly cutting-edge, but who cares? It's about the story, the characters, and the satisfaction of landing a perfect S-Craft!
My Unpopular Verdict
Trails of Cold Steel 1 & 2 on the Switch in English? Actually pretty enjoyable. I might even...dare I say... recommend it?
Don't get me wrong. It's flawed. But there's a certain charm to its slow burn, its over-the-top characters, and its surprisingly engaging combat.

Plus, there's a lot of game here. You're getting a serious bang for your buck, even if that buck is spent mostly on talking to NPCs about their feelings.
So, if you're looking for a long, involved JRPG to sink your teeth into, give it a shot. Just don't blame me if you get addicted to crafting quartz.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go back to Thors Military Academy. There's a field study waiting for me, and Crow Armbrust is probably up to no good.
Maybe you will also find enjoyment. Or at least some amusement in the absurdity of it all. Happy gaming!
