Season 2 Of How I Met Your Father

Okay, people, let's talk How I Met Your Father Season 2. I know, I know. It's not How I Met Your Mother. We get it.
But can we just agree, for a second, that maybe, just maybe, it wasn't as bad as everyone says?
Unpopular Opinion Alert!
I'm going to say it: I kind of enjoyed it. There, I said it! Feel free to throw tomatoes.
Must Read
The Gang's All (Mostly) Here
Sophie and her crew are back, stumbling through their thirties (or trying to). Valentina's still stylish. Charlie's still...Charlie.
Sid and Hannah are trying the long-distance thing. Ellen's navigating dating after her divorce. It's a relatable mess, right?
And Jesse? Well, Jesse's still brooding over Sophie. Classic sitcom stuff.

The Cameos Were Gold!
Seriously, the cameos were the highlight.
Neil Patrick Harrisreprising Barney Stinson? Legendary!
And Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders!) giving Sophie some advice? Come on, that's fan service done right.
I'm not gonna lie, I cheered a little (okay, a lot) when I saw them.
Did It Have Problems? Absolutely!
Look, I'm not saying Season 2 was perfect. The humor could be a little forced at times. And some storylines dragged.

Did we really need that much of the Drew storyline? Maybe not.
And the whole will-they-won't-they with Sophie and basically everyone was a bit much. But hey, that's sitcoms for you!
But...There Was Charm!
Despite its flaws, Season 2 had charm. It had moments of genuine heart and humor.

The friendships felt real. The struggles felt relatable (even if exaggerated).
And the mystery of who Sophie ends up with? Still intriguing! We get more options.
Let's Talk "The Mother"
Okay, nobody's going to replace Tracy McConnell (aka "The Mother"). Cristin Milioti was amazing. End of discussion.
But How I Met Your Father isn't trying to be HIMYM. It's trying to be its own thing.

And maybe, just maybe, we should give it a little credit for that.
My Verdict: Give It Another Shot
So, here's my unpopular opinion: If you gave up on How I Met Your Father after Season 1, maybe give Season 2 a try.
Lower your expectations. Don't compare it to the original too much. Just enjoy the ride.
You might be surprised. Or, you might hate it. Either way, you’ve spent a few hours laughing. And that's never a bad thing. What did you think?
