Komi Can't Communicate Season 1 Episode 4

Okay, let's talk about Komi Can't Communicate, specifically, Episode 4. It’s a sweet show, right? Everyone loves Komi-san and her awkward adorableness.
The Pool Episode
The main event? The pool. Ah, summer. A time for sun, fun, and crippling social anxiety if you're Komi-san. She’s basically me at any social gathering, except way prettier.
First, there's the swimsuits. So much emphasis on swimsuits! Every anime pool episode has to have the swimsuits. It’s the law, I guess. I’m not complaining…much.
Must Read
My Unpopular Opinion: Pool Episodes are Overrated
Here’s where I might lose some of you. I think pool episodes in anime are often… meh. They're usually fan service fiestas, and Komi Can't Communicate doesn't entirely escape this.
Don't get me wrong, it’s cute seeing Komi-san self-conscious. But did we really need several minutes of swimsuit gazing? Maybe that's just me.

I understand. A lot of fans eat that stuff up. But give me character development over swimsuit shots any day!
Tadano's MVP Moment
Okay, enough negativity! Tadano is a gem. He’s seriously the most understanding and supportive friend anyone could ask for.
He just gets Komi-san, doesn’t he? He patiently helps her navigate the social minefield that is high school. I wish I had a Tadano in my life.

The scene where he pretends to be bad at swimming to make her feel more comfortable? Chef's kiss. That’s true friendship right there.
The Real Star: Najimi
Let's be honest, Najimi steals every scene they're in. Seriously, what are they? Gender-fluid chaos incarnate?

They're like the ultimate social butterfly. They know everyone and everything. Najimi's energy is both terrifying and captivating.
I secretly suspect Najimi is the puppet master behind everyone's interactions. They create situations, then sit back and watch the awkwardness unfold. Diabolical genius!
The Ending
The episode ends with Komi-san making… progress? A little, maybe. Small steps are still steps!

She definitely felt a little more comfortable with her friends. The pressure of being the unattainable goddess seemed to lessen, just a smidge.
Overall, Episode 4 is a decent episode. It's got the usual Komi Can't Communicate charm. But the pool stuff? Maybe a little overdone. Give me more Tadano being a bro and Najimi causing mayhem! That’s what I’m here for.
So, am I totally off base? Do you love the pool episode? Or are you with me on the "meh" train? Let me know!
