Is Kabaneri Of The Iron Fortress Finished

Okay, let's talk Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress. Remember that show? Trains! Zombies! Steampunk! Good times... or were they?
The question on everyone's lips (well, maybe not everyone's): Is it done? Like, really done?
The Initial Hype Train (Pun Intended!)
Kabaneri came out swinging. Explosions, cool characters, that Sawano Hiroyuki soundtrack. It was anime gold! Seemed destined for greatness, right?
Must Read
We were all on board! Destination: Anime of the Year! First class tickets, baby!
Then… things happened.
The Dip in the Tracks
Let's be honest, the second half wasn't quite… the same. The plot got a bit wobbly. Some characters started making questionable choices.
The hype train started to slow down. Some passengers jumped off early.

Did it completely derail? Nah. But it definitely hit a few potholes.
The Movie: A Second Chance?
Then came the movie, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress: The Battle of Unato. Hopes were renewed! Maybe it would redeem the ending?
It was… fine. It gave us more Mumei action, which is always a plus. More explosions! More trains!
But did it truly conclude the story? Did it answer all our burning questions? I'm not so sure.
My (Possibly Unpopular) Opinion
Here's where I might get some tomatoes thrown at me. Deep breath… I think Kabaneri is finished, and maybe it should be finished.

Hear me out! Sometimes, a story is best left as is. Continuing it might just dilute what made it special in the first place. Even if the ending wasn't perfect.
Imagine if they kept making Attack on Titan forever. Would it still be as impactful? Probably not.
Why I Think It's Time to Stop
Look, Ikoma and the gang had their adventure. They fought, they struggled, they (sort of) saved the day.
Dragging it out risks turning into repetitive monster of the week scenarios. We've seen that before.

Plus, I kinda want Wit Studio to focus on other amazing projects. They've got plenty of talent!
Could It Technically Come Back?
Of course! Anything's possible in anime land. A surprise sequel could appear out of nowhere.
A spin-off series focusing on a different group of survivors? Maybe!
But should it? That's the real question.
The Final Verdict
For me, Kabaneri has reached its station. The journey was… interesting. It wasn't always smooth. But it was a ride.

I'm happy to remember it for what it was. Flaws and all.
So, let's put Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress to rest, with a smile. And maybe rewatch the first few episodes. You know, before things got... complicated.
What do you think? Am I totally off base? Let me know!
P.S.
Okay, fine. If they announced a Mumei spin-off, I'd probably watch it. Don't judge me.
But still, let's be careful what we wish for.
