If I Cant Have Love I Want Power Film

Okay, let's talk If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power, or as I affectionately call it, "Halsey's Baby Angst Movie." It's... a lot. I'm not saying it's bad, but I'm also not not saying it's bad.
The Visually Stunning Mess
First off, the visuals are gorgeous. Like, seriously, I could wallpaper my house with stills from this film. Halsey looks incredible, and the gothic horror vibe is totally my aesthetic.
But sometimes pretty pictures aren't enough, right? It feels like a music video stretched way too thin, with a side of philosophical pondering that landed with a thud.
Must Read
The Story? What Story?
Here's where I might lose some people, but I found the plot a little... confusing. It's all about power, motherhood, and the Madonna-whore complex, but somehow it gets lost in the medieval fantasy trappings.
Like, are we supposed to be taking this seriously? Is it a commentary on something deeper? Honestly, I spent most of the movie wondering what Halsey had for breakfast that morning.
Don't get me wrong, I love symbolism. But sometimes, a pregnant queen in a castle is just a pregnant queen in a castle. Maybe.

Halsey: The Queen of Ambiguity
Halsey slays, obviously. She commits to the role, even when I'm not entirely sure what the role is. She delivers those dramatic lines with such conviction!
But, and this is a big but, is she overacting? I can't tell! Maybe that's the point? Am I supposed to be questioning everything?
It's like she's daring you to judge her, which, honestly, is pretty punk rock. I can respect that.

The Music (Saves the Day?)
Okay, the music is undeniably great. It blends perfectly with the visuals, creating this intense, emotional atmosphere. It would be very hard to listen to this soundtrack and not feel something.
It's just... does the movie really need to exist? Couldn't we have just had the album? Probably.
Honestly, I feel like I understood the album more before I watched the film. Maybe that's just me though.

Unpopular Opinion Time!
Okay, here's where I brace for the hate. I think If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power is... slightly overrated.
Yes, it's artistically ambitious. Yes, it's visually stunning. But did it actually say anything? I'm not entirely convinced.
Don't get me wrong, I admire Halsey's commitment to her art. But sometimes, a beautiful mess is still just a mess.

"This is my truth, tell me yours."Maybe my truth is that I need a simpler explanation for things. A nice, plain cheeseburger plot, you know?
Look, I'm not saying you shouldn't watch it. Definitely watch it! Form your own opinion! Just don't be surprised if you're left scratching your head a little. Or a lot.
At the end of the day, maybe the point is that there isn't a point. Maybe it's just pure, unadulterated artistic expression. And maybe I'm just too basic to fully appreciate it.
So, what do you think? Am I totally off base here? Or did you also find yourself slightly bewildered by If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power? Let me know!
