Okay, let's talk about Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Everyone loves this book. It's a classic! But… I have a confession.

I think Alexander might be a little dramatic. Just a smidge.

Bad Day, Or Just… Life?

Don't get me wrong. I understand bad days. I’ve had plenty. My toast has definitely landed butter-side down more than once.

But Alexander? He tripped on a skateboard. Then he got gum in his hair. I mean, these things happen, right?

Perspective is Everything (Maybe?)

Here's the thing. Life isn't always sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes, it's scraped knees and sticky fingers. It's waiting in line and getting the wrong flavor of ice cream.

Does that make it a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day? I'm not so sure. Perhaps just a Tuesday.

Maybe I'm just being cynical. Perhaps Alexander needs a hug and a nap. And maybe some more realistic expectations.
