Yo Son Goku And His Friends Return

Okay, let's be honest. We all secretly love it when Son Goku and his crew come back for another round. Another tournament? Another universe-threatening bad guy? Sign us up!
The Never-Ending Saga
Seriously, though, are they ever going to retire? It feels like Goku has been powering up for decades. My back hurts just watching him.
And I'm not complaining! More Dragon Ball is always welcome. It’s like comfort food. You know what you're getting, and it’s usually pretty satisfying.
Must Read
But... Hear Me Out
Here's my slightly unpopular opinion: I'm tired of the power scaling. Remember when Krillin could actually contribute? Now he's basically a glorified cheerleader.
Don't get me wrong, I love Goku. He's pure-hearted and powerful. But could we maybe give some love to the other Z Fighters?
I mean, Piccolo used to be a terrifying villain! Now he's just... a babysitter? A very green, very strong babysitter.

And Vegeta! Poor Vegeta. Forever striving to surpass Goku, forever falling just short. It's almost Shakespearean, if Shakespeare involved screaming and energy blasts.
The Transformations Are Getting Out of Hand
Super Saiyan God? Super Saiyan Blue? Ultra Instinct? It's like they're running out of colors! I’m half expecting Goku to go Super Saiyan Rainbow Sparkle Power any minute now.
I’m not even sure what the transformations do anymore. They just make him stronger, right? Which begs the question...

At what point does it become ridiculous? Are we just adding transformations for the sake of adding transformations?
The Villains Are Also Getting Recycled
It seems like every new villain is just a stronger, angrier version of a previous one. Another space tyrant? Another android with a grudge?
I understand that evil is cyclical. But can we get a little more creativity here? How about a villain who uses reverse psychology? Or one who is secretly a really good baker?

I would watch the heck out of Goku fighting a villain who defeats people with passive-aggressive comments.
Remember Frieza? He was truly terrifying. Now he just keeps coming back. Talk about annoying!
Despite It All, We'll Keep Watching
But let's be real. We'll all keep watching, won't we? We'll cheer when Goku inevitably saves the day. We'll groan at the power-ups and the recycled villains.

We'll complain about how long it takes to charge a Spirit Bomb. We'll secretly wish Yamcha would finally get a win.
Because deep down, we love Dragon Ball. It's nostalgic. It's silly. It's a reminder of simpler times, when all you needed to solve a problem was a really, really loud scream and a lot of energy.
So bring on the next saga! Bring on the new transformations! Bring on the slightly-too-familiar villains! Yo Son Goku and friends, we're ready for you (again).
Just maybe give Tien Shinhan something to do, okay?
