Yakuza Like A Dragon Ikari Voice Actor

Let's talk about Yakuza: Like a Dragon. A fantastic game, right? So many amazing characters.
But there's one character voice that... well, it divides opinions. It's the voice of Ikari.
The Voice of Fury: Is It Too Much?
Ikari, as we know, is a fierce fighter. He's supposed to sound tough. Intimidating, even. But did they go a little overboard?
Must Read
I'm just saying, sometimes his voice feels like nails on a chalkboard. A really angry chalkboard.
Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm too used to the smooth sounds of Kiryu. I'm probably showing my age here!
The Perpetual Shout
My main gripe? It's the constant yelling. Every line delivered at maximum volume.

You'd think he's perpetually stubbing his toe. Or perhaps constantly surprised by the price of ramen.
I understand he's supposed to be intense. But couldn't they dial it back a notch? Just a little?
I mean, imagine living next door to him! Forget sleeping in ever again.
An Unpopular Opinion?
Okay, I know. Ikari is a fan favorite for many. People love his over-the-top persona.

They probably find his booming voice hilarious. Or perhaps even inspiring. Maybe they see him as a symbol of unbridled rage.
And that's totally fine! Different strokes for different folks, right?
But I can't help but feel that a little nuance could have gone a long way. Just a little!
"It's like he's permanently auditioning for a heavy metal band."
The Charm of the Loud
I will admit, there's a certain charm to the sheer ridiculousness of it all. It's hard to deny.

It does fit the game's overall wacky tone. Yakuza: Like a Dragon isn't exactly known for its subtlety.
Maybe the voice is intentionally exaggerated for comedic effect. Perhaps I am indeed missing the point completely!
Could It Be Me?
Maybe my ears are just sensitive. I do prefer podcasts to death metal.
Or maybe I just need to appreciate Ikari's voice for what it is: an unadulterated expression of raw emotion. Whether I like it or not.

Regardless, Iām sure the voice actor did an amazing job. I would not want to try screaming all day.
So, am I alone in this? Or are there others out there who secretly reach for the volume control every time Ikari speaks?
Let me know what you think! I'm ready for the backlash.
Just please, don't shout at me.
