Yakuza 0 A Phone With A Carrying' Strap

Okay, unpopular opinion time! Let's talk Yakuza 0. It's amazing, we all agree. Epic fights, silly side quests, karaoke... perfection!
But. There's something about it I need to address. Something that bothers me more than Mr. Shakedown stealing all my money.
The Phone Strap: A Crime Against Fashion
It's the phone strap. Yes, that little cord attached to Kazuma Kiryu's brick of a mobile.
Must Read
I know, I know. It's the 80s in Japan! Phone straps were everywhere. But hear me out.
A Fashion Faux Pas?
Imagine this: You're Kiryu. Dragon of Dojima. Fearless. Intimidating. Ready to beat down anyone who looks at you wrong.
Then, you whip out your phone, dangling from a strap? It just doesn't fit the image, does it?

I get the practicality. Keep your precious, brick-sized phone safe. Don't drop it while fighting a clown wielding a chainsaw.
But couldn’t Kiryu just, you know, keep it in his pocket? Or maybe invest in a super-tough phone case? Something a little less...dorky?
Practicality vs. Aesthetics
Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm missing the point. Perhaps the strap adds a certain...vulnerability?

Like, "Hey, I'm a tough guy, but I also care about my phone!" I still think it's weird!
And it's not just Kiryu! Goro Majima is rocking the same accessory! Okay, maybe he can pull it off. He's Majima. He can pull off anything.
The Perpetrator
I can almost hear the RGG Studio laughing somewhere. Probably at me! "He doesn't understand the cultural significance of the phone strap!"

Okay, fine. Maybe I don't. But aesthetically, it bothers me! It's like putting a spoiler on a minivan. Or wearing socks with sandals. No.
"The phone strap is a symbol of connection! Of responsibility! Of..." - Probably someone who loves phone straps.
Sure, sure, whatever. You keep telling yourself that. I'll be over here, imagining Kiryu ditching the strap and looking even more badass.
Don't get me wrong, I adore Yakuza 0. It's a masterpiece. But that phone strap? A minor imperfection in an otherwise perfect game.

My Call to Action
So, who's with me? Am I alone in my phone strap disdain? Let me know!
Maybe we can start a petition. "Remove All Phone Straps from Future Yakuza Games!" Okay, maybe not. But a guy can dream, right?
At the end of the day, it's a tiny detail. It doesn't ruin the game. But it's something that amuses me to no end!
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going back to playing Yakuza 0. Ignoring the phone strap, of course.
