Why Isn't The Many Saints Of Newark On Hbo Max

Okay, let's be honest. Where's The Many Saints of Newark on HBO Max? We were promised a mob movie prequel! We were promised young Tony Soprano!
I know, I know. It was on there. Briefly. Like a fleeting dream after too much gabagool.
But seriously, why isn't it a permanent fixture? Is it hiding with the witness protection program?
Must Read
A Case of the Missing Mobsters
I have a theory. A possibly unpopular theory. Maybe it's not as good as we hoped? Don't @ me!
Hear me out. The Sopranos is iconic. It's a masterpiece. Can anything truly live up to that hype?
Maybe The Many Saints of Newark is like that cousin you only see at weddings. You're happy they're there, but... you're not exactly rushing to hang out.

Blasphemy, I Know!
Okay, okay. I'm being dramatic. It's not bad. It's just...different. Less focused on the intricate characters we grew to love (or hate).
Instead, it's more like a gangster flick with some familiar faces sprinkled in. Think sprinkles, not a whole cannoli.
And maybe, just maybe, HBO Max realizes this. Perhaps they strategically removed it after the initial buzz died down.
The Streaming Shuffle
Of course, the real reason is probably boring. Streaming rights are a mess. Contracts are confusing.

Maybe Warner Bros. Discovery is just playing some corporate game we can't understand. Probably involving spreadsheets and tax write-offs.
But where's the fun in that explanation? I prefer my version, where the movie is hiding because it's secretly embarrassed to be compared to its older brother, The Sopranos.
My Unpopular Opinion (Again!)
Look, I get it. We all wanted more Tony Soprano. We wanted to see his origin story in all its glory.

But maybe the mystery is part of what made The Sopranos so great. We filled in the blanks ourselves.
Perhaps showing us everything just...diminishes the magic. Like revealing how they make the special effects in a horror movie.
So, Where Do We Go From Here?
Well, we can always rent it on demand. Or buy the Blu-ray. Remember those?
Or we can just rewatch The Sopranos for the millionth time. Which, let's face it, is probably what we're all doing anyway.

Because at the end of the day, no matter how many prequels they make, nothing beats the original.
"Woke up this morning, got yourself a gun..."
A Final Plea
But still, HBO Max, if you're listening... please bring back The Many Saints of Newark. Even if it's just for a little while.
I promise I won't complain too much. Maybe.
Just give us another chance to see young Tony. Even if he's not quite the Tony we remember.
