Why Is Demon Slayer Season 2 Mugen Train

Okay, let's be real. Demon Slayer is awesome. We all agree, right? Swords, demons, cool breathing techniques...what's not to love?
But...Mugen Train. Season 2?
Wait, what? I'm not crazy, am I? A movie turned into seven whole episodes? It felt a bit...stretched. Like butter scraped too thin on too much toast.
Let's Talk Length
Don't get me wrong, Mugen Train was a cinematic masterpiece. We cried, we cheered, we probably bought way too much merch. But seven episodes? Seriously?
Must Read
They added some extra scenes, sure. Flashbacks, more dialogue. But did it really need to be that long? I'm not entirely convinced.
It felt like they were trying to pad it out. Milk it, even. My unpopular opinion? It was a tad overkill.
The Emotional Rollercoaster...Again
We all remember Kyojuro Rengoku. What a hero! What a flame! He became an instant fan favorite.

And then...tragedy. Cue the waterworks. We were emotionally devastated.
But then... we relive it all again! The same emotional beats. The same gut-wrenching moments. It's like, "Okay, I get it! I'm already sad!"
Where's the New Stuff?
Look, I love Demon Slayer. I really do. But I wanted new adventures! New demons! More Tanjiro headbutts!

Mugen Train was great...the first time. By the seventh episode, I was itching for the Entertainment District arc to start already!
Maybe I'm just impatient. Maybe I have a short attention span. But I think I speak for some of us when I say...it felt like a repeat performance of something we already experienced in its entirety.
The Animation, Though...
Okay, gotta give credit where it's due. The animation was stunning. Ufotable really outdid themselves.
The fight scenes were breathtaking. The details were incredible. Visually, it was a feast for the eyes.

But even amazing animation can't completely distract from the fact that...well, we already saw it all.
So, Why Season 2?
That's the million-dollar question. Was it to give more screen time to Rengoku? Was it to bridge the gap between seasons? Or was it just a clever marketing ploy?
Maybe a little of all three? Who knows! But one thing's for sure: it definitely sparked some debate amongst fans.

I think it would have been more impactful to continue the story, instead of a retelling.
My Hot Take
Here it is. My controversial opinion. Mugen Train should have been a movie...and that's it.
It's not that it wasn't good. It was fantastic! Just… not as a drawn-out season.
Now, bring on more Demon Slayer! More demons, more action, and please, no more train repeats!
