Why Does Hbo Max Take So Long To Load

Let's talk about HBO Max. Or, as I sometimes call it, "HBO...Eventually?"

Why does it take SO LONG to load? Is it just me, or does anyone else spend half their viewing time staring at a spinning wheel of doom?

The Wait is Real

Seriously, I've made coffee faster than HBO Max loads a new episode. I've written entire emails. I've even considered learning a new language in the interim!

And don't even get me started on trying to browse. Scrolling feels like wading through molasses.

My Unpopular Opinion

Okay, here's where I might ruffle some feathers. I think HBO Max has gotten worse at loading since it became, well, Max.

Don't get me wrong. I love the content. Where else can I get Succession and all those DC superhero shows in one place?

But the app itself? Sometimes, I suspect it's powered by hamsters on tiny treadmills. And those hamsters clearly need a coffee break.

Is it My Internet?

Before you come at me with "Check your internet speed!" I have. It's not my internet.

I can stream multiple cats playing pianos on YouTube in 4K without a single buffer. But HBO Max loading a preview? Forget about it!

It's not just my TV either. My phone, my tablet, my smart toaster oven...they all suffer the same fate.

Possible Culprits (Maybe?)

Maybe it's the sheer volume of content. Maybe all those high-definition shows are straining the servers. Maybe the hamsters unionized and demanded shorter hours.

I don't know! I'm not a tech expert. I'm just a person who wants to watch House of the Dragon without feeling like I'm aging a decade between scenes.

Or perhaps it's some Warner Bros. Discovery conspiracy to encourage patience. I mean, if I am patient, I can watch all those great shows.

The Alternatives

Sometimes, I'm tempted to just watch something else. There are other streaming services, you know.

But then I remember The Last of Us. Or Barry. Or that documentary about competitive cheese sculpting (it's real!).

And I'm sucked back in. Forced to endure the loading screens like some sort of digital penance.

A Plea to the Tech Gods

So, to the powers that be at HBO Max/Max, I implore you: Please, fix the loading times!

Give those hamsters a raise! Upgrade the servers! Perform some kind of digital voodoo that makes the app run smoother than a freshly Zambonied ice rink!

I'm not asking for the moon. I just want to watch TV without feeling like I'm stuck in a time warp.
