Who Is The First Demon In Demon Slayer

The ULTIMATE Question: Who's Really Demon Slayer's First Demon?
Okay, Demon Slayer fans, let's talk. We all know about Muzan Kibutsuji. He's the big bad, the progenitor, the demon-y demon of all demons. But is he really the first? I'm not so sure.
Hear me out. This might be a bit of an unpopular opinion, but buckle up!
Is It Muzan? Obvious, Right?
I know, I know. Everything points to Muzan. He’s the source of all demons, blah, blah, blah. He turned Nezuko! He's the one handing out demon blood like it's candy at Halloween (except way more deadly).
Must Read
Everyone says he's the first. But is that what the anime showed us from the very beginning?
My Wild Theory: The Real First Demon
What if the first demon we REALLY see, the one that kicks off the whole story, isn't Muzan himself? What if it's that random demon Tanjiro finds in his house?
Think about it. We see him attack the Kamado family. He is the very first demon Tanjiro faces. He murders Tanjiro's family (except Nezuko, thankfully!).

We didn't even knew Muzan existed at this point!
Why This Matters (Kind Of)
Look, I'm not saying Muzan isn't important. He's the mastermind, the puppet master, the reason everyone's lives are so awful. But, without that initial demon, would Tanjiro have become a demon slayer?
Probably not! That random demon is like the first domino. He sets everything in motion.

Let's Get Real: It's About Perspective
Okay, fine, technically Muzan is the first. He's the root of the problem. I get it. But narratively speaking, the first demon we experience is that one in Tanjiro’s house.
It's about perspective, people! It's about where the story starts for us, the viewers. Who is the very first evil character we see?
Consider This...
Imagine if the story started with Muzan just hanging out. We see him create demons, plan stuff, and generally be evil. Would we be as invested?

Probably not. The emotional impact comes from seeing the Kamado family torn apart by THAT demon.
The Unsung Villain of Episode One
Let's give credit where credit is due. That random demon deserves a little recognition (or infamy). He is, after all, the one who REALLY gets the ball rolling.
He is like the starting villain. He is the one that shows up at the very beginning of the anime. He is the one that matters at that time.

So, Who Is Really The First Demon?
Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm just being contrarian. But I still think that little random demon deserves a shout-out.
He's the unsung villain of episode one! He's the reason we all got hooked on Demon Slayer in the first place.
So, next time you're watching Demon Slayer, spare a thought for that first, fateful encounter. Give a silent cheer (or maybe a shudder) for the real first demon. What do you think?
