Who Does Alf Marry In Lark Rise To Candleford

Let's talk about Lark Rise to Candleford. A lovely show, right? Rolling hills, charming characters… and Alf Arless. Oh, Alf.
The Alf Arless Conundrum
Alf, played by the delightful John Dagleish, is the amiable farmhand. He's loyal, hardworking, and has a twinkle in his eye. But who does our Alf end up with? That's the question, isn’t it?
The Obvious Choice: Miss Ellison
Most people probably think he's destined for Miss Ellison, the schoolteacher. She's sensible. She's kind. She seems like the perfect fit on paper. But are they REALLY a good match?
Must Read
Don't get me wrong, Miss Ellison is great. But sometimes, "perfect on paper" translates to "slightly boring on screen." Sorry, not sorry!
My Unpopular Opinion: Alf Should Have Married...
Here's where I might lose some of you. Brace yourselves. Alf should have married Queenie Turrill.
I know, I know! Hear me out. Queenie, played by Linda Bassett, is a force of nature. She's got sass, she's got spirit, and she runs that post office like a boss.

While they are not the same age, so what?
Why Queenie Makes Sense
Think about it. Alf is drawn to strong women. Look at his respect for Dorcas Lane! Queenie is strong, independent, and knows her own mind.
Their scenes together are always electric. There's a playful banter, a genuine affection. It's subtle, but it's there.
And let's be honest, Queenie needs someone. Someone to share the load, to offer support, and to appreciate her unique brand of brilliance.

Imagine The Possibilities!
Picture Alf and Queenie running the post office together. He'd handle the deliveries, she'd manage the customers. It would be hilarious and heartwarming!
Plus, can you imagine their dinner table conversations? Never a dull moment, that's for sure. They'd balance each other perfectly.
He provides the calming balance to her strong, unwavering demeaner.

Miss Ellison vs. Queenie: The Verdict
Miss Ellison offers stability. Queenie offers adventure.
Miss Ellison is predictable. Queenie is surprising.
In my humble (and possibly controversial) opinion, Alf deserves a little surprise and adventure in his life. And Queenie deserves a partner who truly sees her for the amazing woman she is.
It's Just a Thought!
Of course, this is all just wishful thinking. Lark Rise to Candleford ended as it did. But wouldn't it have been fun to see Alf and Queenie together?

Perhaps it's the rebellious romantic in me. I like to root for the unconventional pairings.
So, what do you think? Am I completely off base? Or could Alf and Queenie have been the best couple Lark Rise to Candleford never gave us?
Food for thought, anyway.
