Who Are The Pillars In Fire Force

Fire Force's Pillars: More Like Fire...Uh...Sticks?
Okay, Fire Force fans, let's talk about something spicy. I'm talking about the Pillars! You know, those special people who are key to saving (or destroying) the world?
But be honest. Are they really all that interesting? I have some thoughts, and some might be...unpopular.
The Obvious Ones: Tamaki and Iris
Let's get the big ones out of the way. Tamaki Kotatsu. Cat girl. Lucky Lecher Lure. We know the drill.
Must Read
She's...around. And her powers are cool. But does anyone actually think she's a super compelling character? Maybe it's just me.
Then there's Iris. She prays. She's kind. And...that's kinda it, right? I mean, she's important. But "interesting?" I'm not convinced.
Maki Oze: The Real MVP?
Now, Maki Oze. She's not a Pillar. But she's got serious power. Plus, personality for days!

She can control fire and create cute fireballs. Doesn't that sound better than some of the actual Pillars' powers? Just saying...
Maybe being a Pillar isn't all it's cracked up to be. Maki seems to be doing just fine without it. She's definitely a fan favorite!
The Middle Ground: Sho and Shinra
Then we have the middle ground: Sho Kusakabe and Shinra Kusakabe. The brothers. The Adolla Burst users.
Shinra is the main character. So, yeah, he's important. But sometimes his motivations are a little...simplistic. Save everyone!

Sho is a little more interesting. He's got the whole brooding anti-hero vibe going on. But even he sometimes feels like he's just fulfilling a plot point.
The "Wait, Who?" Pillars
And then we get to some of the later Pillars. The ones who show up and you're like, "Oh, right. They exist."
I'm not saying they're bad characters. But they don't have the same impact as the earlier ones, right?

It's hard to get invested when they appear relatively late in the game. And their backstories feel rushed.
My Unpopular Opinion: The Pillars Are Overrated
Here it is. My controversial take. The Pillars, as a group, are a bit overrated.
Their powers are cool. Their connection to Adolla is interesting. But individually, some of them are...underdeveloped.
Maybe it's because the show focuses so much on Shinra and the Special Fire Force. Whatever the reason, some Pillars feel like plot devices more than characters.

The Real Fire Force Stars
Let's be real. The best part of Fire Force is the ensemble cast. Arthur. Obi. Hinawa. They make the show what it is.
They have memorable personalities, cool abilities, and interesting relationships. And they don't need to be Pillars to be awesome.
So, next time you're watching Fire Force, pay attention to the non-Pillars. You might be surprised at who you find most compelling. And you might agree with my very unpopular opinion!
Maybe Fire Force should have been called "Fire Force (and a few special people)."
