Where Do The Pearsons Live In This Is Us

Okay, let's talk This Is Us. We all cried, right? We laughed too, sometimes through the tears. But something has always bugged me. Where do the Pearsons REALLY live?
The Official Answer
The show claims Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We see the Steelers. We hear the accents (sort of). It's mentioned. Pittsburgh is the obvious answer, right?
But...
I have my doubts. Hear me out before you throw your Crock-Pots at me.
Must Read
The weather seems all over the place. One scene is snowy, the next everyone's in short sleeves. Pittsburgh has seasons, yes, but the show's timeline is...flexible.
The houses! Those houses are beautiful. Do regular folks in Pittsburgh really have homes like that? Maybe Jack and Rebecca were secretly loaded.
My Unpopular Opinion
I think the Pearsons live in "TV Land, USA." It's a fictional place. It is conveniently located wherever the plot needs it to be. Don't @ me.

Think about it. It’s a place where every diner is charming. Also, therapists are always available. Plus, families resolve huge issues over a single Thanksgiving dinner.
This place is way too perfect to be a real city. It's like a heartwarming Hallmark movie, but longer and sadder. And with Milo Ventimiglia. Can't complain about that!
Evidence To Support My Theory
Consider the sheer amount of coincidences. Randall finding William? Kate and Toby meeting? It feels like the universe is orchestrating everything. That doesn't happen in real Pittsburgh.

Everyone is incredibly understanding. Even when they probably shouldn’t be. People forgive betrayals in about 43 minutes, give or take a commercial break.
The flashbacks
are always perfectly timed. They reveal exactly what we need to know, when we need to know it. It's almost too neat and tidy.
And what about the Big Three
? They all have these incredibly dramatic lives, yet they're all so interconnected. Small world, or convenient plot device?
Maybe It Doesn't Matter
Ultimately, the location isn't that important. It's about the characters. It's about their struggles. It's about the family.

We connect with the Pearsons because they're relatable. They're flawed. They're trying their best.
But still... TV Land is where I'm putting my money. Or maybe the writers just really liked filming in Southern California (where parts of the show were actually filmed).
So, Where DO They Live?
My official, non-committal answer? They live in our hearts. They occupy a special, tear-stained place in our viewing schedules.

Maybe that's the real answer. Perhaps the real location isn't a place on a map. It is the emotional landscape of the show itself.
Whether it's Pittsburgh
or TV Land
, the Pearsons are home. And that’s what matters.
But seriously, those houses are amazing.
I just hope Jack Pearson got a good deal on it!
