When Is The Handmaid's Tale Season 5 Coming Out

Okay, let's talk about The Handmaid's Tale. Specifically, when in the blessed name of Aunt Lydia are we getting Season 5?
Seriously, it feels like we've been waiting for Gilead to thaw out since, well, forever.
So, Where's Season 5 Already?!
That's the million-dollar question, isn't it? We all Google it at least once a week. Don't even try to deny it.
Must Read
Officially, the release date has already come and gone! Season 5 premiered back in September 2022. Yes, you read that right.
Maybe you're thinking of Season 6. Unfortunately, that's another story.
The (Slightly) Bad News...
Brace yourselves, Handmaid's fans. The Handmaid's Tale is ending with Season 6. I know, I know, deep breaths!

But hey, at least we know there's an end in sight (unlike, say, the Game of Thrones ending... we don't talk about that).
But When Does Season 6 Arrive?
As of today, that release date is still shrouded in mystery. We're all just patiently (or impatiently) waiting.
Production was unfortunately delayed due to the writers' strike. But good news! The strike ended, so hopefully filming will resume soon.

My totally unprofessional prediction? Late 2024, or maybe even early 2025. Fingers crossed and keep praying to Serena Joy.
An Unpopular Opinion (Prepare Yourself)
Okay, here it comes. I think The Handmaid's Tale should have ended a season or two ago.
Don't get me wrong, the first few seasons were absolutely gripping. But after a while, it felt like the plot was churning around the same story beats.
How many times can June Osborne escape Gilead, only to be pulled back in some new and terrifying way? Seriously, girl needs a vacation.

Let's Be Real About The Show
It's a powerful show, no doubt. The performances are incredible. Elisabeth Moss deserves all the awards.
But sometimes, I feel like it's just too darn depressing. Is it wrong to want to watch something that doesn't make me want to hide under the covers?
Maybe that's why I'm not totally heartbroken about it ending. Quality over quantity, am I right?

In The Meantime: Reruns, Anyone?
While we wait for Season 6, there's always the option of rewatching the first five seasons. Or maybe...dare I say it... reading the book again?
Just kidding. Who has time for that? Binge-watching it is!
Or you know, we could all just write some fan fiction where Aunt Lydia opens a bakery and serves artisanal scones. Now that's a spin-off I'd watch.
Under his eye, and hopefully, a Season 6 release date soon!
So, to summarize, Season 5 is already here, Season 6 is coming... eventually. And maybe, just maybe, it's okay that The Handmaid's Tale is drawing to a close.
