When Is The Florida Project 2 Coming Out

The Florida Project 2: Dreaming of Dreamsicle Ice Cream and Sequel Hopes
Okay, let's be real. We all walked out of The Florida Project with a mix of emotions. Heartbreak. Hope. And a serious craving for purple ice cream. But mostly, the desire for more!
So, the burning question: When, oh WHEN, are we getting The Florida Project 2? Are the magical sunsets over the budget motels calling us back?
The Million Dollar Question (That Nobody Seems To Know)
Let's face it, nobody officially announced sequel for The Florida Project. Director Sean Baker isn't exactly churning out sequels left and right. He's more about that authentic, slice-of-life cinema.
Must Read
Did he leave enough loose ends to even warrant one? Absolutely! Moonee's future is a giant, sparkling question mark. And that's exactly why we need a sequel.
I think a lot of viewers would love a follow-up that gives us a peak on the lives of Moonee and the others after the event. What happened to Moonee after the end?
My (Unpopular) Opinion: Why a Sequel Could Actually Work
Some folks say certain films are perfect as standalones. Blasphemy, I say! Okay, maybe not blasphemy. But hear me out.

We're not talking about ruining a masterpiece. We're talking about checking in on characters we genuinely care about. Finding out if they found their happily ever after (or at least a slightly less chaotic existence).
Plus, Florida's always got stories to tell. The backdrop of hidden struggles amidst the tourist traps? Pure cinematic gold. And Sean Baker is the right guy to do it right, of course!
What Could The Florida Project 2 Even Be About?
Imagine this: Moonee's a teenager. Navigating high school. Dealing with the awkwardness of adolescence. Maybe even showing a glimpse of her mom, Halley, doing well in the adult entertainment business, and how does Moonee feel about it. All while still finding joy in the little things.

Or, a prequel! Halley's story. How she ended up at the Magic Castle. What were her dreams before Moonee came along? There's so much potential!
Maybe focusing on Scooty now grown up! He now is a young adult trying to make money for his family.
The Reality Check (Don't Burst My Bubble!)
Okay, okay. I know. The chances of The Florida Project 2 actually happening are slim. Hollywood loves franchises, sure, but indie darlings are a different beast.

It's possible that Sean Baker wants to move on to different stories. He is a film maker who made different movies from different genres.
But hey, a girl can dream, right? And maybe, just maybe, if we collectively manifest hard enough, we'll get that Dreamsicle-flavored sequel we all deserve.
Until Then...
We can always re-watch The Florida Project and cry a little. And maybe write some fan fiction. Just kidding... unless?

Seriously though, even if a sequel never materializes, the original film is a treasure. A reminder to find beauty and joy even in the toughest of circumstances.
But if you hear any whispers, any rumors, any hints of a sequel? Let me know! I'll be first in line, clutching my box of tissues and a craving for something sweet.
And let's be real, who wouldn't want to see Willem Dafoe back as Bobby? We're all secretly hoping for it!
