Turns out, the final season premiered in June 2022. See? I almost had it. Close enough for a participation trophy, right?

An Unpopular Opinion (Brace Yourselves!)

Now, prepare yourselves. I have a confession. I think the last season of Animal Kingdom… was actually pretty good.

I know, I know! Some people were disappointed. They wanted more explosions, more shirtless Pope, more... well, more of everything! But hear me out.

The writers wrapped things up pretty nicely. They gave us closure (sort of), tied up loose ends (mostly), and reminded us why we loved watching these dysfunctional criminals in the first place.

I’ll admit, the flashbacks got a little heavy-handed. We get it! Janine "Smurf" Cody was a complicated woman! But still, I think they nailed the ending.

Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm easily pleased. Or maybe, just maybe, the ending wasn't as bad as some people remember.

Revisiting The Cody Chaos

Think about it. We saw J grapple with his family's legacy. Pope battled his demons (as usual). Craig tried to be a decent father (bless his heart!).

And Deran just wanted to escape. Which, honestly, is a mood.

The relationships were still messy, the tension was still high, and the heists were still…well, let’s just say strategically challenging!

The finale gave each character a fitting ending. Whether they found redemption, met a sticky end, or simply continued their chaotic existence, it felt right.

Why The Hate, Though?

So why all the negativity surrounding the final season? Maybe it was the expectations. Maybe people were just tired of the Cody family's drama.

Or maybe, and this is just a wild guess, people were sad that it was ending. And projecting their sadness onto the actual episodes.

Whatever the reason, I stand by my unpopular opinion. The last season of Animal Kingdom was a solid conclusion to a wild ride.
