When Does The Fear Of The Walking Dead Start

Let's talk about zombies. Specifically, the ones from Fear the Walking Dead.
A question plagues my mind, a question I'm almost too afraid to ask: When does the "fear" actually kick in?
Is It Just Me?
I’m going to say something controversial. Brace yourselves.
Must Read
I sometimes think the "Fear" part is more like "Mild Discomfort the Walking Dead." Anyone else agree? Or am I alone here?
Maybe I'm just desensitized. All those zombie shows and movies, you know?
Season One: A Promising Start?
Okay, the first season. It started slow, sure. But it was supposed to!
We were seeing the very beginning of the apocalypse. It was about that family. Their struggles. The confusion.

But did I feel scared for them? Debatable. Mostly I felt… mildly inconvenienced by them.
The Endless Road Trip
Then there's the constant travel. You know, endless highways. Abandoned towns. Zombie hordes (naturally).
Shouldn't constant near-death experiences build some sort of… well, fear? Perhaps.
Yet, somehow it's more like: "Oh, look, more zombies. Guess we'll shoot them." Routine, right?

The Character Conundrum
Now, don't get me wrong. Some of the characters are interesting. Madison, for example. She’s complicated.
And Alicia is resourceful. Still, sometimes their decision-making is just baffling.
Which leads to more frustration than actual fear, to be honest.
Bad Decisions, Bad Vibes
Speaking of bad decisions, oh boy. This show is a masterclass.
Every character seems determined to make the absolute worst choice in any given situation. Are they trying to be eaten?

Perhaps that's the real fear: the fear that characters will make really, really stupid choices.
So, When DOES the Fear Start?
Here's my hypothesis. Maybe the fear isn't about the zombies. Maybe it's about something else entirely.
Maybe the real fear is the slow realization that your precious Sunday night is being spent watching a show where everyone acts irrationally.
Or perhaps the fear comes from the creeping suspicion that this entire article is just my way of justifying my continued viewing.

But seriously, guys. When does the fear actually start? Asking for a friend... it’s me, I’m the friend.
Maybe the true "Fear" starts when you realize you're still watching, even after all these seasons. That's a scary thought!
"We all have our fears. Mine apparently involve zombies, bad decisions, and a surprising amount of commitment to a television show."
Ultimately, maybe the 'Fear' is personal. Maybe it hits differently for everyone.
So what's your opinion? When do the zombies inspire true trepidation and dread?
Or are you, like me, mostly just wondering what questionable decisions the characters will make next week?
