When Does Luffy Get The Thousand Sunny

The Great Thousand Sunny Debate!
Let's talk One Piece. Specifically, when did Luffy and the gang actually get the Thousand Sunny? It's a burning question, right?
Most people say it's right after the Enies Lobby arc. Makes sense, on paper. They needed a new ship, the Going Merry was, well, toast.
But I have an unpopular opinion. I think they sort of get it before then. Hear me out!
Must Read
The Dream Starts Before the Reality
Think about it. The idea of the Thousand Sunny is born well before it's actually built. Franky's planning, designing, and gathering materials happen throughout the Water 7 saga. It's a process!
He’s practically building it in his head the whole time! Isn't that kind of like already owning something? It’s the mental ownership.
Imagine planning your dream vacation for months. By the time you're actually on the plane, you're already on vacation! It’s the same with the Sunny.

Franky's Investment = Their Ship
Franky pours his heart and soul into that ship. He uses all his treasure and knowledge. That's a serious commitment!
Plus, the Franky Family helps! They’re invested too! That's like getting a timeshare with a bunch of your best pirate buddies.
So, if Franky is building their dream, isn’t it technically their ship even while it’s still in pieces?

It’s a Gradual Acquisition!
Okay, maybe "ownership" is too strong of a word. Let’s call it a “gradual acquisition of nautical awesomeness.” Sounds better, right?
Each plank, each cannon, each Cola-powered upgrade? It's all slowly becoming their ship.
It’s not a sudden gift. It's a building, loving process that happens through the whole arc. It's a beautiful metaphor for friendship and teamwork!

The Official Handover: Semantics!
Of course, the "official" handover is post-Enies Lobby. That’s when Franky formally joins the crew. And sails away with them on the magnificent vessel.
But the feeling of owning the Sunny? I reckon they got that feeling way before. It was in the air during all of Franky's hard work!
It’s about the journey, not the destination…or, in this case, the ship's construction!

So, My Hot Take?
They start getting the Thousand Sunny the moment Franky decides to build it for them. Everything else is just details.
It's a ship built on hope, friendship, and a whole lot of Cola. And a little bit of shared ownership before the launch.
Agree? Disagree? Let the debate commence! I’m ready for your (hopefully) gentle pirate insults. Let me know your thoughts. Argh!
