Think back. Was it the moment poor Hodor sacrificed himself? That was pretty devastating. We've all felt like Hodor, stuck holding the door for someone else's grand plan.

Suddenly, that feeling of being used became super relatable. We started seeing Hodor in every unpaid internship. And in every time your boss takes credit for your work. I’m sure many of us thought, “Yep, that’s my life!”

The Red Wedding Realness

Was the turning point perhaps The Red Wedding? Brutal. Unexpected. Completely unfair. We've all been blindsided by life like that.

You know, like when your favorite coffee shop closes down. Or when you find out your go-to sweater has a hole in it. The injustice! It's basically a wedding massacre for your wardrobe.

Suddenly, House Frey was just another name for "Monday."

Maybe it wasn't a specific event. Perhaps it was the constant wit and wisdom of Tyrion Lannister. Let’s be honest, we all strive to be that clever when arguing with family.

We all wish we could drop some perfectly timed insults. Followed by a thoughtful observation about the futility of power. Preferably while drinking wine. Lots and lots of wine.

Then there's Cersei Lannister. Her level of pettiness? Absolutely aspirational. I mean, not really. But… kinda.

We've all held a grudge or two. Haven't we? Maybe we haven't blown up a Sept with wildfire. But we've all dramatically unfollowed someone on social media. That’s basically the same thing.

The Unpopular Opinion: The Iron Throne Doesn't Matter

Okay, here's my possibly unpopular take. The moment Game of Thrones became real was when we realized the Iron Throne itself didn’t matter.

All that fighting. All that scheming. For what? To sit on a pointy chair? That's a metaphor for, like, everything.

Think about that promotion you desperately want. The fancy car you can barely afford. The Instagram-perfect vacation you're stressing about. Is any of it really worth the dragon fire?

Maybe the show was telling us that all along. And it took us eight seasons of dragons and backstabbing to figure it out.
