What's The Last Episode Of Hunter X Hunter

The Last Episode of Hunter x Hunter: An Opinion (Maybe Wrong!)
Okay, let's talk about the elephant in the room, or rather, the Nen-powered Chimera Ant in the room. What is the last episode of Hunter x Hunter? Is there even one?
Some say it's episode 148, "Past x And x Future." It wraps things up, right? Gon finds Ging. Everyone's sort of happy-ish. Cue the credits.
But I have a slightly controversial take. Buckle up, HxH fans!
Must Read
My (Potentially Wrong) Last Episode: The End of the Chimera Ant Arc
For me, the real end is the conclusion of the Chimera Ant arc. Yeah, I said it.
Think about it. That arc is a masterpiece. Seriously, from the introduction of Kite to the heartbreaking finale with Komugi and Meruem, it's emotionally draining. We're all emotionally drained, aren't we?
Everything after feels...different. Like a post-credit scene that stretches on for dozens of episodes.

Why the Chimera Ant Arc is the True Ending (For Me)
The Chimera Ant arc completely changes Gon. He sacrifices everything. He gets his revenge. He almost destroys himself. That's some serious character development!
The emotional impact of Meruem's death is HUGE. It's probably the saddest moment in anime history, or at least top five. Try to argue with me.
After that, seeing Gon healthy and fishing? It's nice, sure. But it feels like a different show, a softer show. Like a palate cleanser after a five-course meal of feels.

The Election Arc: Good, But Not The End
Don't get me wrong. The Election arc is enjoyable. Seeing Killua fight for Alluka's sake? Awesome!
But it doesn't have the same weight. It lacks the profound philosophical questions and the existential dread of the Chimera Ant arc.
Plus, the animation quality dipped a bit, didn't it? Let's be honest.

Ging: A Disappointing Father Figure
And then there's Ging. Finally meeting Gon's dad... only to find out he's kind of a jerk?
Sure, he's a complex character. But after everything Gon went through, Ging's aloofness felt like a letdown. Where's the hug, Ging?!
Meeting Ging is satisfying, but it doesn't provide the same emotional closure as the Chimera Ant arc. It feels more like a new beginning, and less like an ending.

So, What Is The Last Episode?
Ultimately, the "last episode" is subjective. It's whatever episode brings you the most closure. Whatever episode feels like a natural stopping point.
For me, that's the moment Meruem and Komugi fade away, holding hands. A tragic but beautiful end to an incredible story.
Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe episode 148 is the true ending. But I'm sticking with my unpopular opinion. The Chimera Ant arc is where Hunter x Hunter truly ends... at least in my heart.
