What We Do In The Shadows The Wellness Center

Okay, let’s talk What We Do In The Shadows. Specifically, “The Wellness Center.” Everyone seems to love it. But is it…overrated? I think it might be.
The Vampire Spa Day: Genius or Gimmick?
The whole premise is gold. Vampires going to a wellness retreat? Hilarious. But did it truly live up to its potential? I'm not entirely convinced.
The Guillermo storyline was predictable. Him getting stronger? We all saw that coming. It felt a little…been there, staked that.
Must Read
Nadja's Feminist Awakening (Sort Of)
Nadja’s attempts to be a modern, empowered woman were amusing. The "feminist" vampire council? Classic Nadja. But was it really that funny?
I love Natasia Demetriou. She's comedic perfection. However, the jokes felt a bit…obvious. Maybe the bar is just set too high after so many great episodes.

Let's be honest, Nadja's goals were not very noble. She wanted the prestige and power. This is a vampire, after all, she's not exactly a progressive idealist.
Colin Robinson: Still Draining, Literally
Colin Robinson is always energy-draining. It's literally his thing. In this episode, he just felt…extra draining. Even for him.
His whole wellness journey was about finding new ways to bore people. Like, we get it, Colin. You're a master of mundane tedium. Tell me something new!

The Derek Problem
Derek. Oh, Derek. A walking, talking plot device. He was too gullible, too eager. It made the story easy, but less rewarding.
His transformation into a half-vampire, half-human hybrid thing felt rushed. It was a convenient plot point. But not the best way to make a big twist in the show.
The Unpopular Opinion
Look, I love What We Do In The Shadows. It’s one of the funniest shows on television. This is why I think the episode felt lackluster.

Maybe I’m just being picky. Maybe my expectations are too high. But “The Wellness Center” just didn’t hit the same way some other episodes have.
The jokes felt a little…safe. The plot was a little…predictable. The vampire antics were a little…ordinary. Is that a vampire sin?
“But the special effects were great!”
Yes, the special effects were great. They always are. That doesn't automatically make an episode amazing.

Final Verdict
Don't get me wrong, I still laughed. I still enjoyed seeing the vampires in ridiculous situations. Nandor’s awkwardness is always gold.
But, overall, "The Wellness Center" felt like a mid-tier episode. Not bad, but not a masterpiece. Is it okay to admit that? I think it is.
Maybe it’s just a sign of how consistently brilliant the show usually is. We're spoiled. We expect gold every single time. I wonder if it will get better as the seasons continue.
