What We Do In The Shadows The Siren

Okay, let's talk about something important. Something really important. I need to get this off my chest.
The Siren Episode: Am I the Only One?
I'm talking about What We Do In The Shadows, specifically "The Siren." You know, the one with the incredibly annoying… siren?
Unpopular Opinion Time!
Look, I love this show. Love it! I mean, Nandor's eternal search for love? Gold. Lazslo's utter disregard for everything? Genius. Nadja talking to her doll self? Pure comedic perfection.

But "The Siren?" I just...don't get the hype. Don't hate me! Hear me out. It's okay if you love it. Really.
The premise is simple enough. The vampires stumble across a singing siren. Lazslo, of course, becomes obsessed.
He believes her song is beautiful. Everyone else finds it nails-on-a-chalkboard awful. This is the joke. But is it funny?

The joke gets old really, really fast. We get it! He likes the noise. Everyone else hates it! Repeat ad nauseam.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the absurdity. What We Do In The Shadows thrives on absurdity. But this felt... forced.
It's like they found one joke and stretched it thin. Really, really thin. Like trying to make a single stick of gum last an entire road trip.
I feel like other episodes have more layers. More cleverness. This one felt a little...flat. Even for vampires.

Even Colin Robinson, the energy vampire, seemed bored! And that's saying something.
Maybe I'm missing something profound. Perhaps the siren's song is a metaphor for the beauty we find in the unexpected.
Or maybe, just maybe, it's just a really irritating noise. I'm leaning towards the latter. Sorry, Lazslo.
"Bat!" - Lazslo Cravensworth
And the siren herself? She wasn't particularly compelling. She just sort of...sat there and wailed. Like a bad karaoke night that never ends.

Other guest characters have been fantastic. The Baron! The werewolves! Even the ghost council had more personality.
This siren felt more like a plot device than a character. A plot device designed to annoy me, personally.
I know, I know. I'm probably alone on this one. Everyone seems to love this episode. But I needed to vent.
So, am I the only one who finds "The Siren" a bit...underwhelming? Or is there anyone else out there who feels my pain?

Let me know in the comments! Maybe you can explain what I'm missing. Maybe I'll rewatch it and see the light.
But until then, I'll stick to the episodes with more Guillermo slaying vampires. Now that's entertainment.
And Nadja's doll, of course. Can't forget about the doll.
Anyway, thanks for listening to my rant. I feel much better now. Back to enjoying the other brilliant episodes!
