What We Do In The Shadows Season 3 Episode

Okay, let's talk What We Do in the Shadows Season 3. Specifically, that episode. The one everyone seems to adore. I'm talking about "The Chamber of Judgement".
Don't get me wrong, I love this show. I genuinely do! The vampires are hilarious, Guillermo's long-suffering sigh is a masterpiece, and Nadja's pronouncements? Comedy gold.
My (Slightly) Controversial Take
But... "The Chamber of Judgement" just didn't fully click with me. There, I said it! Prepare for the tomatoes.
Must Read
Everyone raves about the elaborate sets and the sheer absurdity of the trials. Sure, it looked cool. But was it actually that funny? I'm not entirely convinced.
The Trials and Tribulations (of My Attention Span)
Let's be real: some of the trials dragged. Like, even for a vampire's eternally long life, they felt long. My attention started wandering toward thoughts of cheese and comfy socks.
The humor felt a little... obvious? Usually, What We Do in the Shadows thrives on subtle awkwardness and deadpan delivery. This episode felt a little more like slapstick.

Okay, the floating baby Colin Robinson was pretty great. I’ll give you that one. But that's one funny moment in a sea of... almost funny moments.
Nandor's Search for Love (or Lunch)
I did appreciate Nandor's desperate attempts to find a bride. The whole mail-order bride thing was peak Nandor. Hilariously misguided and doomed from the start.
His interactions with the Djinn were also gold. Remember him granting wishes? A pool filled with blood? Peak vampire stuff.

But even Nandor's subplot couldn't fully save the episode for me. It just felt...disconnected from the main trial storyline.
The Nadja Doll: A Distraction or a Masterpiece?
The Nadja doll was certainly... something. Was it funny? Yes, undeniably so. Was it integral to the plot? Absolutely not.
It felt like the writers were throwing in every weird idea they had, hoping something would stick. And some of it did! But not enough, in my opinion.

Guillermo: Always the MVP
Okay, let's be honest: Guillermo is always the best part of any episode. His exasperation is the glue that holds the whole crazy mess together.
Even in "The Chamber of Judgement," he was the relatable voice of reason. He's a perfect straight man in a world of utter lunacy. We love him!
But even Guillermo's brilliance couldn't elevate this episode to the heights of other Season 3 gems. Like "The Wellness Center" or "Go Flip Yourself". Now those were masterpieces!

Final Verdict: Still Good, Just Not Great
Look, I'm not saying "The Chamber of Judgement" is a bad episode. It's still What We Do in the Shadows. Even mediocre Shadows is better than most TV.
But compared to other episodes in the season, it just felt a little...flat. Like they were trying too hard to be weird and forgot to be funny.
So, there you have it. My unpopular opinion. Feel free to disagree! Now if you excuse me, I'm going to rewatch "The Wellness Center" and bask in its glory.
And maybe eat some cheese while I'm at it.
