What We Do In The Shadows Season 1 Episode 4

Local Vampires vs. The Bureaucracy of... Other Vampires?
Okay, picture this: you're a vampire. You've lived for hundreds of years. What's the most terrifying thing you can imagine? Probably not paperwork, right?
Well, in the hilarious fourth episode of What We Do In The Shadows season 1, titled "Manhattan Night Club," our favorite Staten Island vampires face their bureaucratic nightmare. Yes, even immortal bloodsuckers have to deal with headquarters.
The Arrival of the Ancient Ones
A delegation of ancient, powerful vampires comes to visit. They’re here from "The Vampiric Council." Their mission? To check up on Nandor, Nadja, and Laszlo's progress conquering America. Let's just say the vampires are not doing a good job at taking over America.
Must Read
Think of them as the vampire equivalent of corporate auditors. Except, you know, they can turn into bats and drink your blood. Pretty intimidating stuff.
The ancient vampires are played by some seriously amazing actors. We're talking Tilda Swinton, Wesley Snipes (via video conference!), Evan Rachel Wood, Paul Reubens, and Danny Trejo! Talk about a star-studded vampire council.

This episode perfectly blends the mundane with the macabre, creating comedy gold.
Nightclub Nonsense
To impress the Council, the vampires decide to open a nightclub. They want to show they’re doing something relevant in the human world. Of course, their version of a nightclub is... well, uniquely vampire-ish.
They call it "The Regional Council." It's dark, gloomy, and populated by the same handful of awkward humans. It's about as far from hip and trendy as you can get.

Laszlo's attempts to make it cool are especially hilarious. He tries to be a suave club owner. It spectacularly fails.
Colin Robinson: Energy Vampire Extraordinaire
Let's not forget about Colin Robinson. He is the energy vampire who drains people with his dull conversations. He's in top form this episode. Watching him bore the ancient vampires is truly a sight to behold.
He even manages to drain Tilda Swinton! That's how you know you're good at your job. He is truly the best character on the show.

Why It's So Good
This episode is fantastic for a few reasons. First, the cameos are incredible. Seeing such recognizable actors playing ancient vampires is pure joy.
Second, the humor is spot-on. The show's blend of the supernatural and the everyday is what makes it so special. Who would have thought vampires dealing with bureaucracy could be so funny?

Finally, the characters are just so endearing. Despite their flaws and their bloodlust, you can't help but root for Nandor, Nadja, Laszlo, and even Colin Robinson. Their dynamic with each other is a joy to watch.
So, if you're looking for a hilarious show that's a little bit different, give What We Do In The Shadows a try. And definitely don't miss "Manhattan Night Club." You might just find yourself craving a good laugh... and maybe a little bit of blood. Just kidding! (Mostly.)
