What We Do In The Shadows Movie Streaming Hulu

Okay, let's talk What We Do in the Shadows. Specifically, the movie. And its home, currently, on Hulu.
I know, I know, the series is fantastic. Everyone loves Nadja and Laszlo. Guillermo's just trying his best!
The Movie Deserves More Love
But hear me out. The movie? Underrated. Seriously, truly, unfairly overlooked.
Must Read
It's a mockumentary masterpiece. It's awkward, it's hilarious, and it's got a certain… charm? A shambolic, blood-soaked charm, maybe.
Why the Movie Works (For Me, At Least)
The original movie is so raw. The special effects are...budget. The situations are even more ridiculous.
Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi. Need I say more? Their comedic genius is on full display. I love their improv style.
Viago's desperate attempts to keep the house tidy? Vladislav's issues with "The Beast"? Deacon's artistic temperament?

These are characters that immediately grab you. They feel both relatable and utterly bonkers. Like that one weird uncle everyone has.
Hulu: A Safe Haven?
So, Hulu. Good ol' streaming service. Home to many things, but currently, also home to this cinematic treasure.
I always breath a sigh of relief when I find it still there. Because who knows how long it'll stay? Streaming availability is fickle these days.
Is it the perfect way to watch it? Probably not. A crisp Blu-ray would be ideal.

Unpopular Opinion Incoming
And here's where I risk the wrath of the fandom. I... I think the movie is funnier than the first few seasons of the show.
Don't @ me! I love the show! But there's a certain scrappy quality to the movie that's just...perfect.
The show has gotten too slick. It lost some of that original charm. The movie is delightfully unpolished.
Seriously, Give It Another Watch
If you've only seen the series, please, please, please watch the movie again. Pay attention to the details. Soak it in.
Consider it a historical document. A vampire's guide to flat-sharing. A cautionary tale about the dangers of sunlight.

Maybe I'm just nostalgic. Maybe I'm blinded by Taika and Jemaine's brilliance. But I stand by my unpopular opinion.
A Humble Suggestion
So, next time you're scrolling through Hulu, looking for something to watch... pause.
Don't automatically click on the latest true crime documentary. Don't default to "The Handmaid's Tale."
Give What We Do in the Shadows (the movie) another shot. You might be surprised.

You might even find yourself laughing so hard you choke on your (hopefully not human) blood.
And if you don't like it? Well, you can always go back to "The Handmaid's Tale." No hard feelings.
But you'll be wrong. Just sayin'.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to rewatch it for the tenth time this month. On Hulu, naturally.
