Let's talk about Oscar from Shark Tale. We all know and (maybe) love him. But what kind of fish is he, really?

Dreamworks says he's a cleaner wrasse. Okay, sure. But I'm not buying it.

Cleaner wrasses are small and stripey. They clean other fish's parasites. Oscar? He dreams of being a baller!

Hear me out! This is an unpopular opinion and here’s why.

Yes, cleaner wrasses are small and stripey. But the bluestreak cleaner wrasse has more personality. Much more Oscar-esque.

They're also known for their vibrant colors. Oscar definitely rocks a bright color palette, even if he is a little down on his luck.

These guys are opportunistic. They know how to get what they want. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

Oscar is ALL about the hustle. Cleaning? That's a side gig. He's got bigger dreams.

He craves fame and fortune. Cleaner wrasses clean to survive, sure. But Oscar cleans to...eventually not clean anymore.

He uses his "sharkslayer" reputation to climb the social ladder. Classic hustle move.

Love him or hate him, Oscar has charisma. He wins people over (eventually).

Cleaner wrasses might be helpful, but they aren't known for their charm. The bluestreak cleaner wrasse needs more charm.

Oscar's got the gift of gab. He can talk his way into (and out of) any situation. It is needed to survive.

Oscar stretches the truth…a LOT. He even makes up a grand story!

He embellishes his role in Frankie's death. Turning a near miss into a heroic feat.

He's a natural storyteller. The bluestreak cleaner wrasse is not a very good storyteller.

Let's not forget his dance moves. Can you imagine a regular cleaner wrasse busting a move like Oscar?

Probably not. It requires a certain level of confidence and flair.

He wears a fancy watch! A bluestreak cleaner wrasse would buy this for themselves.

Maybe Dreamworks stuck to a simple cleaner wrasse for simplicity. I get it.

But deep down, I believe Oscar is a bluestreak cleaner wrasse with big dreams. And a whole lot of hustle.

So next time you watch Shark Tale, consider my theory. You might just see Oscar in a whole new light.
