Ah, the NFL playoffs. A glorious time of year! But let's be honest, it's also a confusing time of year. Especially when it comes to game times.

Figuring out when the NFL playoff games actually start feels like cracking a secret code. You need a decoder ring, a PhD in scheduling, and maybe a psychic.

Okay, maybe not that extreme. But still! Why can't they just pick a time and stick to it?

I have an unpopular opinion: They should all start at noon on Sunday. Problem solved!

Seriously, the Variations are Wild!

One game is at 1:00 PM EST. Okay, cool. The next? 4:30 PM EST. What? And then there's the Saturday games that seem to be scheduled based on the phases of the moon.

Don't even get me started on the primetime games. Supposedly family friendly until, BAM! 8:15 PM kickoff.

My kids are asleep by then! I have to choose between seeing Patrick Mahomes throw a laser beam and getting a full night's rest. It's a cruel world.

This past weekend my wife made some delicious nachos, just to find out that the game doesn’t start for another 3 hours!

The Endless Pre-Game Show

Let’s be real, a significant portion of what we think is "game time" is actually pre-game analysis. Three hours of it.

I appreciate hearing from the analysts, but do we really need that much buildup?

I swear, sometimes I think they're intentionally stretching it out to torture me. Or maybe to sell more car commercials? Who knows.

My (Unpopular) Opinion: Consistency is Key!

Here's where I get controversial. I think all playoff games should start at the same time each day. Period.

Saturday games at 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM EST. Sunday games at 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM EST. Done. No more confusion!

And maybe, just maybe, shorten that pre-game show a little. Just a thought.

The Importance of DVRs and PVRs

Thank goodness for DVRs, am I right?

Being able to record the game and watch it later (skipping the commercials, of course) is a lifesaver. Especially with these unpredictable kickoff times.

I can pretend I knew all along what time the game was on. Plus, I can pause and rewind whenever Tom Brady makes a spectacular play! (Okay, maybe not anymore… but still!)

The honest answer? I have no idea. Check your local listings! Consult the internet. Pray to the football gods.

And maybe set multiple reminders on your phone. Just to be safe.
