I'm going to say it. Season 4 isn't really Alison's true comeback season.

We see glimpses, shadows, and hear whispers. But is it really her? It feels more like a ghost haunting Rosewood.

Season 5? That's Alison's season. That's when she's back in (mostly) full force, enrolled in school, causing chaos. You know, the usual Alison stuff.

Don't get me wrong. Season 4 is important. Crucial, even. It sets the stage. It's the appetizer before the main course.

But it's not the full-blown, "Alison DiLaurentis is back and ready to reign" experience we were all craving.

Season 4: The Tease

Season 4 gives us hints. It gives us fakeouts. Red herrings galore!

Alison is like a phantom limb. You feel her presence, but you can't quite grasp her. It's frustratingly brilliant.

She's pulling the strings from the shadows. But she's not quite there.

Alison's return is what really kicks off the second half of the series. It just wouldn't be PLL without her.

So, while technically Alison starts appearing in Season 4, her true comeback season is Season 5.

That's when she's fully integrated back into the lives of the Liars (for better or worse).
