What Order Does The Transformer Movies Go In

So, you're ready to dive into the world of giant robots beating each other up and saving (or destroying) the world? Excellent choice! But figuring out the Transformer movie order can feel like trying to solve a Rubik's Cube while blindfolded. Fear not, fellow human!
The Michael Bay Years (aka Explosions Galore!)
Let's start with where it all began: 2007's Transformers. This is where you meet Sam Witwicky, the kid who unwittingly buys a car that's actually a robot in disguise, and the heroic Optimus Prime. Prepare for epic battles, cheesy dialogue, and enough explosions to make a fireworks factory jealous.
Next up is 2009's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. This one's… a lot. It's got more robots, more explosions, and a plot that involves ancient artifacts and some truly bizarre robot designs. Just go with it!
Must Read
Then we have 2011's Transformers: Dark of the Moon. The Autobots discover a crashed Cybertronian ship on the moon, which leads to a massive battle in Chicago. This movie is visually stunning, even if the plot gets a little convoluted.
2014 brings us Transformers: Age of Extinction. Say goodbye to most of the original human cast and hello to Mark Wahlberg! Dinobots make their grand entrance, and things get even more… well, you know, Transformers-y.

The final installment in the Bay saga (thank goodness for our ears) is 2017's Transformers: The Last Knight. King Arthur, Merlin, and a secret history of Transformers on Earth are involved. Yes, really. It's the most bonkers of the bunch, but hey, at least it’s memorable!
A Soft Reboot: New Beginnings (and Still Plenty of Robots)
After The Last Knight, the franchise decided to take a different approach with 2018’s Bumblebee. This movie is a prequel, set in the 1980s, and focuses on Bumblebee's adventures with a teenage girl named Charlie Watson. It's got a lot of heart, great music, and a much more grounded feel than the Bay films. Think of it as the John Hughes version of Transformers.

Most recently we have 2023's Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. This film officially soft-reboots the franchise, and introduces the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons. It's got some amazing action sequences, and it's a fun ride for fans of the original cartoon.
