What Movies Are Coming Out In May 2022

May 2022! Already? Time flies when you're…well, you know. And what better way to spend those flying moments than in a dark, air-conditioned theater?
Big Screen Blockbusters (Maybe?)
First up, we have Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Yes, another Marvel movie. Are we tired of them yet? Unpopular opinion: I'm getting close.
But hey, Benedict Cumberbatch is always great. And maybe this one will actually live up to the hype. Probably not, but a girl can dream!
Must Read
Then there's Top Gun: Maverick. Talk about nostalgia! Tom Cruise is back, looking…well, like Tom Cruise. Can he still pull off those action scenes?
I'm betting yes, despite the obvious passage of time. I am also betting on a lot of aviator sunglasses. So many sunglasses. Get ready for the speed!
And don’t forget, flying on the wingman.
Horror That Might Actually Be Scary
For those who like a good jump scare, Firestarter is hitting screens. A remake of the Stephen King classic? Risky move, Hollywood. Very risky.

Will it be better than the original? Probably not. But maybe it'll be entertainingly bad. Here is hoping for the horror.
If you’re looking for something suspenseful, consider this movie.
Comedy? Is That You?
Speaking of risky, there’s Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, which arrives on Disney+. A self-aware reboot? With meta-humor? Color me intrigued.
It could be genius. It could be a train wreck. Either way, I'm kind of excited to see what they do. I mean, they’re Chip and Dale!

If you ever think of your childhood, consider watching this movie. Maybe it can give you a nostalgia blast.
Indie Gems and Hidden Treasures
Keep an eye out for smaller films too! Those are the ones that sometimes surprise you. You never know what hidden gems might be lurking.
Some films in festivals will come out in May 2022. Maybe they can give you a taste of fresh content.
It is always worth looking for the less hyped movies. You can find more creative and touching content.

Animated Adventures
For the younger crowd (and the young at heart), there is also The Bob's Burgers Movie. Finally! After all those seasons on TV, the Belchers hit the big screen.
I'm expecting quirky humor and heartwarming moments. Plus, hopefully, some catchy songs. Will it be as good as the show? Time will tell.
My Unpopular Opinion Alert!
Okay, here it is. I think animated movies are often better than live-action ones these days. Fight me!
They’re more creative, funnier, and often have deeper messages. Plus, no awkward CGI faces. It is time for animation!

So, What's Worth Seeing?
Honestly? It depends on your taste. But I’d say give a chance to something different than what you normally see.
Maybe Doctor Strange if you are a Marvel fan. Perhaps Top Gun for pure nostalgia. Or maybe a dark horse indie film that no one is talking about yet.
Grab some popcorn, settle in, and prepare to be entertained. Or maybe mildly disappointed. But hey, that's the movies for you!
No matter what, go support cinema, especially the indie films!
