What Movies Are Coming Out In December 2021

December. The month of twinkling lights, questionable sweater choices, and...movies! Lots of movies. Feeling overwhelmed? Don't worry, I got you. Let's wade through this cinematic avalanche together.
Spidey's Back! (Again!)
First up, the one everyone's already lost their minds over: Spider-Man: No Way Home. I’m pretty sure even my grandma, who thinks all superheroes wear capes backwards, knows this one's coming.
Look, I get it. Multiverses, old villains, Tobey Maguire rumors… It's a nostalgia bomb. But here's my potentially unpopular opinion: Can we please let Tom Holland's Spider-Man breathe for a sec?
Must Read
Is it just me, or does the constant reliance on past versions feel a bit...desperate? Maybe I'm just old. I still think Spider-Man 2 is the best. Fight me.
Sing 2: For the Kids (and Secretly, You)
Okay, so maybe you’re not into web-slinging. How about singing animals? Sing 2 is hitting theaters. Prepare for another round of catchy tunes and heartwarming (read: predictable) storylines.
Don’t pretend you don't secretly enjoy these movies. Admit it! You’ll be humming along in the dark, I guarantee it. Even if you initially resist.

And Matthew McConaughey as a koala? Come on, that's pure gold. You can’t deny that.
Prestige-y Stuff
December also brings the Oscar bait. You know, the movies with Serious Themes and Actors Doing Serious Acting. Time for some drama!
West Side Story: A Remake Worth Remaking?
Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story remake is arriving. It's got big shoes to fill. The original is, you know, a classic.

Spielberg, though...he knows what he's doing. I'm cautiously optimistic. Can it capture the magic of the original? Let's hope so.
My unpopular opinion: Remakes are fine. Just don't mess with the original too much!
The Matrix Resurrections: Will it Work?
Remember when you thought the Matrix was over? Surprise! The Matrix Resurrections is coming. Neo and Trinity are back. Again.

The trailer looks...interesting. I’m intrigued. But also slightly terrified. Can they recapture the groundbreaking awesomeness of the first film?
I’m excited for Carrie-Anne Moss to be back, but the original trilogy had a perfect ending. Maybe don't go there.
And Some Other Stuff
Beyond the big hitters, there's always a smattering of smaller films. Comedies, dramas, indie darlings... Keep an eye out for these!

Check your local listings! You might discover your next favorite movie. Sometimes the small movies surprise you the most.
Whatever you choose to watch, grab some popcorn and enjoy the show! Because that's what December is all about!
Okay, maybe it's also about presents. And family. And that awkward office party. But mostly movies!
Happy watching! May your December be filled with good films (and minimal fruitcake).
