I swear, some Mondays I tune in and it's like, "Where's David?" A perfectly capable fill-in is there, of course. But it's just not the same.

Am I the only one who feels this way? Maybe I'm too attached to his serious eyebrows and perfectly-timed pauses.

And hey, I get it. Everyone needs a vacation. But does he schedule them all for the same week every month?

Don't get me wrong, the fill-in anchors are great. They’re professionals. They read the news clearly and concisely.

But they aren't David Muir! There's a certain gravitas, a certain… something… that he brings to the table.

It's like ordering your favorite pizza and getting a perfectly good, but slightly different, pizza instead.

Ultimately, I'm just curious. Is David Muir pursuing other projects? Is he training a team of highly-skilled news anchor robots?

Probably not robots. But whatever the reason, I hope he's doing well. And I hope he comes back soon.
