What Episode Does Chase Tell Zoey He Likes Her

Okay, let’s talk about Zoey 101. Specifically, Chase Matthews and his epic crush on Zoey Brooks. We've all been there, right? Pining after someone feels like a part-time job.

The question on everyone's mind: When does Chase finally spill the beans? When does he finally tell Zoey how he really feels? Well, buckle up!

The "Zoey 101" Time Capsule Saga

Most people point to “Time Capsule” (Season 2, Episode 1). This episode is where the PCA gang records messages for their future selves.

Chase, bless his awkward heart, nearly reveals his feelings on camera. He starts to say he likes Zoey. Then BAM! He gets cut off. Heartbreak!

So, Did He REALLY Tell Her?

Here's where my unpopular opinion comes in. Did he actually tell her? Nah. He chickened out, didn't he?

Sure, he admitted it on video, but Zoey didn't hear it until MUCH later. That hardly counts as a confession, right?

He mumbled something about loving her blue eyes and adorable laugh (or something equally sweet and cheesy). But it was all in the capsule, not a direct, heartfelt conversation.

The "PCA Confidential" Revelation

Fast forward to "PCA Confidential" (Season 3, Episode 13). This is where the time capsule is opened! Drama ensues.

Zoey FINALLY sees Chase's message. Cue the realization that her goofy best friend has been head-over-heels for her. Is this it? Is this THE episode?

Again, not really. Yes, she knows. But Chase isn't there! He's in England, chasing his own "adventure" (aka running away from his feelings).

My (Controversial) Take

Here's where I double down on my unpopular opinion. Finding out via a time capsule message isn't the same as a face-to-face confession.

It’s like finding out someone likes you through a text message years after the fact. Sweet? Maybe. Satisfying? Not really!

"Zoey's" Big Move

Then, you have the whole “Zoey Goes to England” arc. Zoey goes to England to be with Chase.

But even then, the whole situation feels a bit… messy. He is still too scared to say the quiet part out loud. The build up keeps building!

So, technically, while "PCA Confidential" reveals Chase's feelings to Zoey, I wouldn't consider it him actually telling her in a real, honest moment. Chase did not, indeed, let it all out!

The True Confession? (Maybe Never!)

Honestly, I'm not sure there's ONE episode where Chase truly and clearly tells Zoey he likes her, without any distractions or gimmicks.

Maybe the writers wanted to drag out the suspense. Maybe they enjoyed watching us squirm. I personally think it was a little annoying, haha!

Perhaps the closest we get is in one of the later movies/specials, but even then, it's all wrapped up in teenage drama and complicated scenarios.
