What Are The Tv Stations In My Area

Ever feel like you're flipping through channels and seeing the same five faces? Same ten commercials? Same old reruns?
I do. Constantly.
The Usual Suspects: Broadcast TV
Let's talk about the big names. You know, the ones you get with an antenna. If anyone still uses an antenna.
Must Read
We've got ABC, the home of family sitcoms and the occasional tear-jerker drama. Then there's NBC, which seems to be perpetually running some singing competition or a show about doctors.
And of course, CBS. Crime procedurals, anyone? I swear they've solved more murders than the actual police.
Fox: The Rebellious Cousin
Then there’s Fox. They're the slightly rebellious cousin of the bunch. Animated comedies and maybe some… ahem… news-ish programs.
Don’t forget about PBS! I always mean to watch educational shows, but I always end up dozing off. Am I the only one?

Cable Channels: A Whole Other World
Cable. Ah, cable. Where you pay extra to watch even MORE commercials. But hey, at least there's variety, right?
CNN and MSNBC constantly battling it out to see who can report the news (or their version of it) the loudest.
ESPN is always on in some establishment, showing someone doing some sporting thing. I appreciate the dedication.
The Comfort Food Channels
Don’t underestimate the power of nostalgia! I can always find something watchable on channels like Nick-at-Nite or TV Land.

HGTV! I might not be renovating my house any time soon, but I can watch other people do it. That’s entertainment!
My Unpopular Opinion
Okay, here it is: I think there are too many channels. Hear me out!
With hundreds of options, it's harder than ever to find something good. Most of the time I just re-watch old episodes of The Office.
It's all just background noise anyway. Is that a bad thing to admit?

Streaming: The Great Disruptor
Of course, now we have streaming. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime... the list goes on and on.
It's all become so overwhelming, that most times, I just want something easy to watch.
So, are the old TV stations dying? Maybe not. Are they being challenged? Absolutely.
So, What's On?
Honestly? Probably the same thing that was on yesterday.

Maybe I should just read a book. Nah, I'll just keep channel surfing.
Just kidding... Or am I?
Anyway, hopefully that gave you a chuckle and a brief overview of the TV landscape in (probably) your area. Happy watching!
