Watch Rupaul's Drag Race Season 12 Episode 9

Okay, let's talk Drag Race. Specifically, season 12, episode 9. Remember that one?
It was the makeover challenge! The queens had to give RuPaul's crew the drag makeover of their lives.
The Makeovers, Honey!
Some were good. Some… well, let’s just say some were… interesting. A few had me choking on my popcorn.
Must Read
I know the whole point is transformation, but seriously, some of those guys looked genuinely surprised. Bless their hearts!
Especially that one poor camera guy. He seemed a little overwhelmed, but he worked it!
My Unpopular Opinion (Brace Yourselves)
Here it comes… my unpopular opinion. I didn’t think Gigi Goode slayed that hard.
I know, I know! Her aesthetic is usually impeccable. But this time, I wasn't feeling it.

The outfit was… fine. The makeup was… fine. The whole thing was just… fine! For Gigi, that’s not enough.
And listen, I get it. Makeovers are hard! Especially when you have to work with someone else's features.
But Gigi had set the bar so high for herself! My expectations were stratospheric!
The Lip Sync
The lip sync was to "Firework" by Katy Perry. A classic! You know the words, you sing along, you feel the feels.

I thought it was a solid lip sync. Everyone gave it their all. They were trying to avoid being sent home!
However, was it the most mind-blowing, earth-shattering performance I’ve ever seen? Nah.
Was it a Double Shantay Worthy?
Some people wanted a double shantay. RuPaul often throws a curveball.
I don’t think so. Honestly, it was time for someone to go home.

It was getting close to the finale! And those queens needed to prove they had the charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent to snatch the crown.
Overall Thoughts
Season 12, episode 9 was… okay. A solid middle-of-the-road episode.
Not the best, not the worst. Definitely watchable.
It's always fun seeing people get transformed. It's fun to see RuPaul laugh, and it is also fun to see the queens sweat.

The makeovers were a mixed bag. Some were stunning, some were… memorable. The lip sync was fine.
Ultimately, it served its purpose. It whittled down the competition. We got closer to crowning a winner.
So, Let’s Discuss!
Did you agree with my assessment? Or am I totally off base?
Who was your favorite makeover? Which queen do you think should have gone home?
Let me know! Because honestly, I need to know if I'm the only one who thinks Gigi's makeover was just... fine.
