Watch Rick And Morty Season 5 Episode 9

Okay, buckle up, buttercups! Let's talk about that wild ride that was Rick and Morty Season 5 Episode 9, "Forgetting Sarick Mortshall". It's the one where things get... complicated.
Morty Breaks Up (Sort Of) with Rick
Remember how Morty kinda, sorta, maybe, broke things off with Rick? It wasn't your typical teenager-dumps-boyfriend scenario, but the gist was there. Morty, tired of being the sidekick, wanted to, like, find himself.
His method of self-discovery? A new partner, of course! Enter: Planetina. This episode explores what happens when Morty tries a new relationship, but ends up being more crazy and overprotective than him.
Must Read
Planetina: Eco-Warrior or Eco-Terrorist?
Planetina, voiced by Alison Brie, arrives as the savior. She embodies the forces of Earth's core. But things get real dark real quick when she realizes people don't care about the planet as much as she does.
At first, Morty is all in, but slowly, surely, he realizes that Planetina's methods are, well, a tad extreme. Things escalate from punishing polluters to straight-up incinerating entire groups of people.

Talk about a first date gone wrong! She does what she can for the environment, but Morty realizes that even though he has strong feelings for her, he has to break up with her, too.
Rick's Quest for… Someone? Anyone?
Meanwhile, Rick is feeling rejected, abandoned and also ready to find his next partner in crime. He's feeling lost without Morty by his side.
So, what's a lonely genius to do? Try to replace Morty, obviously! And that is exactly what he does. He ends up bonding with two crows, and becoming partners.

He even gives them both Morty names. Rick's crow partners are ready to find all sorts of adventures. Rick tries to be there for them, but also wants to find his own sense of freedom.
Crows Over Dudes?
The running gag of Rick trying to bond with the crows is pure comedy gold. He tries to teach them about science, adventure, and the finer points of interdimensional travel.

The crows, being crows, are mostly interested in shiny objects and eating garbage. So, Rick takes the crows to other dimensions with him and they have a great time.
The Heart of the Matter
Beneath all the wacky sci-fi and dark humor, this episode is really about relationships. It's about dependence, independence, and the struggle to find your place in the universe, or in your own family. This happens through both Morty and Rick trying to connect with new people.
Morty learns that you can't force a connection, no matter how awesome the person seems (or how many elements they control). And Rick learns that maybe, just maybe, Morty is a little harder to replace than he thought.

The episode suggests that Rick and Morty will always be together. They will always be connected somehow. That Rick and Morty are better together, even though things get difficult.
Final Thoughts
Season 5 Episode 9 is another reminder of what makes Rick and Morty so great: It's funny, smart, and surprisingly emotional. It keeps us watching, and keeps us coming back for more.
It's a wild ride that makes you laugh, think, and maybe even shed a tiny tear. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go rewatch it again. For science, of course!
