Watch Lupin The Third Castle Of Cagliostro

Okay, let's talk Lupin the 3rd: The Castle of Cagliostro. You know, that Lupin movie. The one everyone seems to adore.
Is it good? Sure, it's good. But is it amazing? That's where I might raise an eyebrow. Prepare for a potentially unpopular opinion!
A Classic... Kind Of?
Look, I get it. It's a classic. It's Miyazaki's Lupin! Animation is beautiful. The story is... well, it's a story.
Must Read
But sometimes, I feel like I'm supposed to love it more than I actually do. Am I the only one who thinks this way?
The Chase is Great, Though
Okay, let's give credit where it's due. The opening chase scene? Absolutely iconic. That Fiat 500 is a legend.
Jigen's sniping skills are always a delight. Goemon's stoic pronouncements? Priceless. Even Zenigata is entertaining in his dogged pursuit of Lupin.

These moments are genuinely fantastic. Pure Lupin goodness.
Clarisse: Sweet, But...
Clarisse is the damsel in distress, right? She's got the whole "innocent princess" thing down pat.
But sometimes she feels a little… bland? Compared to other Lupin heroines, she lacks a certain spark, don't you think?
Maybe I'm just used to Fujiko Mine stealing the show. She usually has more personality than everyone else combined!

The Plot Thickens (A Little Too Much?)
The Cagliostro plot? It involves counterfeiting, a secret dynasty, and a sinister Count. It all gets a bit convoluted.
I sometimes find myself zoning out during the exposition dumps. Who's related to whom again? What's the deal with the goat bills?
Maybe it's just me. Maybe I need to pay closer attention. Or maybe... the plot isn't quite as gripping as everyone makes it out to be.
Don't Get Me Wrong...
I'm not saying it's a bad movie. It's a very good movie! But it's not my favorite Lupin. I prefer some of the others.

Like, Lupin the 3rd: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine is a masterpiece. It is visually creative and engaging, even more than The Castle of Cagliostro!
Or even some of the sillier, more episodic TV specials. They embrace the absurdity of Lupin in a way that Cagliostro doesn't.
It's Just...Overhyped?
Maybe that's the problem. The hype. It sets expectations so high that it's almost impossible to meet them.
When everyone tells you something is the best thing ever, it's hard not to be a little bit disappointed when you finally experience it.

But hey, that's just my opinion. And you know what they say about opinions...
So, Am I Crazy?
Probably. But I'm willing to bet there are a few of you out there who feel the same way. It's okay to not be head-over-heels in love with The Castle of Cagliostro.
It doesn't make you a bad person. It just means you have different tastes. And that's perfectly fine!
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go watch some more Lupin. Maybe I'll find a new favorite to potentially dislike later on.
