Watch Lord Of The Rings Return Of The King

Okay, let's talk about The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. It's a classic, right? Everyone loves it. But, hear me out...
Is it just me, or is it... long? Like, really long? I know, I know, it's the epic conclusion. But so many endings!
The Endings That Never End
Seriously, we defeat Sauron. Awesome! Then the hobbits return to the Shire. Okay, cool. Then Frodo sails away. Sniffle. But wait, there's more!
Must Read
It feels like every character gets their own little send-off scene. It's sweet, sure. But after the tenth one, I'm reaching for the popcorn... again. Maybe need more.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate closure. But did we really need that much? I felt like the movie was ending more than my exam schedule had deadlines.
Aragorn, the Reluctant King (Kind Of)
Aragorn's coronation is a big deal. He finally embraces his destiny. Hurrah!

But honestly, I always found him a bit...whiny? He spends three movies doubting himself. Dude, you're royalty! And a super cool ranger! Just go for it!
Maybe I'm just projecting my own insecurities onto a fictional king. But still! He needs to cheer up, he is a King after all.
"My friends, you bow to no one." - Aragorn
That line is iconic. Makes me tear up every single time. Despite his whining, Aragorn is pretty likable.
Frodo: The Weary Hero
Frodo goes through so much. Carrying the Ring is no picnic. I get it.

But sometimes, he just seems...passive. Like he's just being dragged along for the ride. Maybe it's the Ring's influence? I am not sure.
I wanted him to be more proactive. More...heroic, you know? Samwise is the real MVP anyway.
Samwise Gamgee: The Real Hero
Speaking of Samwise, he deserves all the awards. Loyal, brave, and always ready with a good meal.

He carries Frodo (literally and figuratively) through the whole journey. He's the friend we all need. The friend we all wish to be.
If anyone deserves to sail off into the sunset, it's him. But he stays in the Shire, being awesome as always.
The CGI: A Product of Its Time
Okay, this is nitpicky. The CGI was groundbreaking back then. But some of it... doesn't hold up.
The massive battles look a little... video-gamey now. Especially when compared to some newer effects.

Still, the overall epicness overshadows any dodgy CGI. The emotion and storytelling are top-notch.
So, yes, The Return of the King is a great movie. A monumental achievement in filmmaking.
But let's be honest, it could have used a bit of trimming. And maybe a little less Aragorn angst.
These are my unpopular opinions. Please don't hate me! Let's grab a pint at the Green Dragon and talk about it.
