Watch George Harrison Living In The Material World

Okay, let's talk George Harrison's documentary, Living in the Material World. It's beautiful, sure. But is it just a tad... long?
The Saint George Myth
Don't get me wrong, I adore George. He's the quiet Beatle. The spiritual one.
But sometimes, I feel like the documentary paints him as a near-saint. Like he never stubbed his toe in a fit of rage or got annoyed at someone chewing loudly.
Must Read
Is that realistic? I'm not so sure. Even enlightened beings probably lose their car keys sometimes.
Three Hours of Transcendence?
The film clocks in at over three hours. That's a hefty commitment! I love a good deep dive, but my attention span is more "puddle" than "ocean" these days.
I mean, can anyone really stay that focused on enlightenment and George's inner peace for that long? My mind starts wandering to what's for dinner around hour two.

Unpopular opinion: a little trimming could have made it even better.
The Material World? Or Just a Nice House?
The title's ironic, right? Living in the Material World, but he also lived in a very nice house. And owned a lot of guitars.
There's nothing wrong with enjoying earthly comforts. But sometimes the film seems to gloss over the, shall we say, less spiritual aspects of being a mega-famous rockstar.

Did George ever complain about the caterers messing up his veggie burgers? These are the questions that keep me up at night!
Was He Always Serene?
Everyone remembers George's spiritual side. His love of the Hare Krishna movement. His quest for inner peace.
But early Beatles George? He seemed... sassier. More of a regular guy.

I kind of miss that early Beatles sass. Just a little. Okay, maybe a lot.
My Verdict: Worth Watching (Eventually)
Look, Living in the Material World is a beautifully made documentary. It's full of amazing footage and insights.
Just maybe break it up into smaller chunks. Like, watch an hour, then go meditate for five minutes, then have a snack.

And remember: even the most spiritual people probably had bad hair days. It's okay to laugh a little.
Maybe I am too cynical.
“All the world is birthday cake, so take a piece, but not too much.” - George Harrison
Or perhaps, George's quote reminds me to lighten up a bit!
