Trapped In A Dating Sim Total Episodes

Okay, let's talk about anime. Specifically, Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs. You know, that one with Leon? Good. We're on the same page.
The Question Everyone's Avoiding
How many episodes did it really need? That’s the question that’s been swirling in my brain. And maybe yours too, if you're honest.
Now, before you grab your pitchforks, hear me out. I'm not saying it was bad. Just… could it have been, dare I say, tighter?
Must Read
The Official Count
Officially, season one clocks in at 12 episodes. Perfectly respectable, right? Seems standard for a lot of isekai-adjacent shows.
But here's my potentially controversial opinion: maybe 10 would have been the sweet spot. Just enough to keep things moving without feeling like we're treading water.
I know, I know, blasphemy! But think about it for a sec.

Why Less Could Be More
Some episodes felt like they were stretching things out. Introducing characters only to sideline them immediately. Or rehashing plot points we already understood.
And let's be real, Leon Fou Bartfort, despite being the main character, could sometimes be a bit...dense. Did we really need that many instances of him missing the obvious romantic cues?
A tighter episode count could have kept the momentum going. More action, less filler. A quicker route to the inevitable romantic entanglements.
The "But What About the Story?" Argument
Of course, the counter-argument is: "But they needed all those episodes to develop the world and the characters!" Valid point. Kind of.

But clever writing can achieve the same thing in fewer episodes. Show, don't tell, and all that jazz. Plus, leaving the audience wanting more is never a bad thing.
Imagine a season that ends on a cliffhanger so good, you’re practically clawing at the walls waiting for the next installment.
The Unpopular Opinion
So here it is, my potentially inflammatory take: Trapped in a Dating Sim could have benefited from a little editing. A leaner, meaner, 10-episode season.

It wouldn't have drastically changed the overall story. But it might have made the pacing a little more… palatable.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed watching Leon bumble his way through the otome game world. But a little more focused bumbling wouldn't have hurt, right?
This isn’t hate. This is love! Love in the form of wanting the best possible version of a show I (mostly) enjoyed.
Maybe It's Just Me?
Maybe I'm just impatient. Maybe I'm spoiled by binge-watching culture. Maybe I just have a low tolerance for unnecessary side quests.

But I suspect there are others out there who feel the same way. Who thought, "This is good, but could it be great with a little trimming?"
So, what do you think? Am I completely off base? Or do you secretly agree that 10 episodes would have been the magic number for Trapped in a Dating Sim?
Let me know! I'm ready for the debate… or the agreement. Either way, let’s talk anime!
