Trails Of Cold Steel 3 Opening Song

Okay, let's talk Trails of Cold Steel 3's opening song. It's...a topic. A topic I have thoughts about.
Don't @ Me: The Cold Steel 3 OP Is... Fine.
Hear me out! I know this is basically sacrilege. The Trails fandom takes its music seriously. Like, really seriously.
A Catchy Tune, Sure...
The opening song, "Mach Velocity," isn't bad, per se. It has a catchy chorus. It gets the blood pumping…a little.
Must Read
But is it amazing? Is it a legendary Trails opening theme? That's where I start to raise an eyebrow. My eyebrow raises significantly.
Compared to the Titans
Let's be honest, the competition is fierce. We're talking Trails in the Sky level epicness. We're talking Trails of Cold Steel I's "Ashita e no Kodou" banger.
"Mach Velocity" just doesn’t quite hit those heights for me. It lacks that certain… oomph. That feeling like you're about to embark on an unforgettable adventure, y'know?

Maybe it's just me? Perhaps I'm hopelessly devoted to the earlier games. The nostalgia goggles are strong, I admit.
Is It Just... Generic Anime OP #37?
Okay, that's harsh. But sometimes, "Mach Velocity" blends in with the crowd. It sounds like a perfectly adequate anime opening.
But Trails music usually transcends the "anime opening" label. It’s something...more. More emotional, more complex, more memorable.

It feels a bit...safe. Like they played it a little too safe.
The Visuals: A Saving Grace
The opening animation itself is fantastic, though! Seriously, no complaints there. Rean looking cool? Check. Class VII looking heroic? Double check.
Seeing all those characters together gets me hyped! It almost makes up for my lukewarm feelings about the song. Almost.

The Real Crime: Skipping It (Maybe?)
Look, I don't want to discourage anyone from enjoying "Mach Velocity." If you love it, that's great! Music is subjective, after all.
And I'm not saying the song is terrible by any means. It's just... not a top-tier Trails track in my book. It's just...average.
My personal sin is that I found myself skipping it after a few playthroughs. Gasp! I know, I know, blasphemy!

So, Am I Wrong? Probably.
This is probably an unpopular opinion. I can already hear the keyboard warriors sharpening their claws. Bring it on!
But hey, at least it's a discussion, right? And even if I don't love the opening song, I still adore Trails of Cold Steel 3. Don't get it twisted!
Now, excuse me while I go listen to "I'll Remember You" and weep softly. And maybe give "Mach Velocity" one more chance. Just in case I'm missing something.
