Toilet Bound Hanako Season 2 Episode 1

Okay, let's talk Hanako-kun. Specifically, Season 2 Episode 1. I know, I know, it's been a hot minute since it aired. But some thoughts NEEDED to be shared.
First, let's just acknowledge the elephant in the room. Did anyone else feel...a little underwhelmed? Don’t get me wrong, I ADORE Hanako-kun. But that first episode? Hmm.
The Animation Glow-Up (Maybe Too Much?)
The animation! Everyone raved about it. And yeah, it was gorgeous. Shinier, more vibrant...almost TOO much. Anyone else miss the slightly rougher, more stylized look of Season 1?
Must Read
It felt a bit like they sanded off some of the charm. Like polishing a precious stone until it’s TOO perfect. I'm not saying it's bad. Just...different. Maybe I’m just old-fashioned.
New Arc, Who Dis?
The new arc! Exciting, right? Introducing new characters is always a gamble. Will they be amazing? Will they be...meh? Only time will tell.

But my initial reaction? Cautious optimism. The vibe definitely shifted. It felt less…toilet-bound and more…general-supernatural-shenanigans-bound. Is that a bad thing? Debatable.
I'm ready to see where this goes. New mysteries? Bring it on! I'm hoping it will get better.
Hanako's Still Got It, Though.
Let’s be clear. Hanako-kun himself is still a delight. His mischievous grin? Still melts hearts. His sassy remarks? Chef's kiss.

Even with the animation change, Hanako retains his captivating aura. He is still a great character. You can't help but love him.
Nene's Hairpin...A Metaphor?
And then there's Nene. Still adorably clumsy and perpetually unlucky in love. Bless her heart.
But did anyone notice her new hairpin? Significant? Just a fashion choice? My conspiracy theorist brain is working overtime.

Is the hairpin a symbol of her growing acceptance of her supernatural fate? Or is it just a cute accessory? Discuss!
The Villain Reveal...A Little Anticlimactic?
Okay, unpopular opinion time. The big bad reveal? Felt a bit…flat. Maybe it's just me.
We'd been waiting so long to see the main antagonist! The build-up was immense. And the actual introduction? It just didn't quite land for me. Hopefully, they'll become more interesting later.
Overall...Hoping for More
Look, I’m not saying Season 2 Episode 1 was terrible. Not at all. It just didn't hit the same way Season 1 did.

Maybe my expectations were too high. Maybe I’m just being overly critical. Maybe I need more coffee. It is also possible.
But I'm still on board! I'm invested in the story. I'm rooting for Hanako and Nene. And I'm genuinely curious to see where the series goes.
So, bring on the supernatural adventures! Let's see what Hanako-kun Season 2 has in store. Fingers crossed it gets even better from here!
