To Your Eternity Season 1 Episode 20

Okay, let's talk about To Your Eternity. Specifically, episode 20 of season 1. It's a rollercoaster, right? But maybe... just maybe... I have a slightly different take than everyone else.
The Pioran Problem (Maybe?)
Everyone loves Pioran. I get it. She's the sweet grandma figure. She tries her best to guide Fushi.
But honestly? Did anyone else find her slightly annoying sometimes? She meant well, sure. But her constant fretting could get a little much.
Must Read
The Well-Intentioned Nag
I know, I know, controversial! But hear me out. She's worried, naturally. Having an immortal shapeshifter as your ward would be stressful.
Still, sometimes I just wanted to yell at the screen, "Let Fushi breathe!" He's learning! Give him a break, Pioran!
Gugu: Still the Best Boy
Okay, full disclosure: Gugu is my absolute favorite character. He's selfless and brave. He's basically a cinnamon roll.

And in episode 20? He continues to be amazing. Protecting Rean, even with his...unique...face? That's true friendship.
Seriously, if anything bad ever happens to Gugu, I will riot. Just putting that out there.
The Rean of it All
Okay, Rean. She's… a character. A very spoiled, sheltered character.

I'm not entirely convinced she deserved Gugu's devotion. But, hey, love is blind. Or maybe she just had a really big piggy bank.
Was anyone else a little relieved when she finally started to show some maturity? Took long enough!
Fushi: The Learning Curve
Fushi is...well, Fushi. An immortal being figuring out humanity. It's a fascinating concept.
Watching him struggle with emotions is both heartbreaking and hilarious. Especially when he tries to mimic human behavior.

Episode 20 really highlights his growth. He's still learning, but he's learning! Small steps, people, small steps.
That Cliffhanger, Though!
The ending? Classic To Your Eternity. Just when you think things might be getting a little peaceful… BAM! Tragedy strikes.
I won't spoil anything for those who haven't seen it. But let's just say I was yelling at my TV again.

Seriously, this show knows how to tug at your heartstrings. Prepare yourself!
Final (Slightly Unpopular) Thoughts
Look, I love To Your Eternity. It's a beautiful, emotionally complex anime.
But sometimes, just sometimes, I feel like the fanbase is a little too quick to forgive certain characters. Especially Pioran!
Maybe I'm just a cynical monster. Or maybe, just maybe, someone out there agrees with me. What do you think?
