But at what cost? Would more episodes have diluted the impact? Would it have turned into a soapy melodrama? The writers did a pretty good job of wrapping everything up with a nice bow in those 18 episodes.

In Defense of a Shorter Season

I'm not saying I didn't miss This Is Us when it was gone. I definitely did! Sunday nights feel a little emptier now. But I appreciate that they knew when to say goodbye.

They didn't drag it out until it became a shell of its former self. They ended it on their own terms. And for that, I'm grateful. Even if I am in the minority with my "unpopular" opinion.
