The Rich Are Richer, The Poor Are... Well, You Get It

Let's be real. In an otome game world, the social hierarchy is insane. The love interests are usually princes, dukes, or ridiculously wealthy merchants.

Where does that leave the rest of us? Sweating in the background, probably. Polishing their carriages, maybe?

And forget about starting your own business. Some brooding CEO is going to buy you out before you can say "entrepreneurship."

Romance? Forget About It!

Think you'll find love? Dream on! The dating pool is contaminated.

Every eligible bachelor is either head-over-heels for the heroine. Or secretly plotting to overthrow the kingdom (and still pining for the heroine).

You might get lucky and find someone who isn't interested in royalty. But let's be honest, he's probably a stable boy with a tragic backstory written by the devs.

Fashion Faux Pas and Existential Dread

Let's talk clothes. The main characters get custom-designed outfits for every tea party.

We get… whatever the character designers forgot to give them to. Hand-me-downs from a forgotten era.

And the existential dread? Don't even get me started. Knowing your entire existence revolves around the heroine achieving a good ending is a real downer.

Survival Tips for the Average Joe (or Jane)

So, how do you survive this mess? Here are a few tips from a fellow MOB in spirit:

• Avoid the heroine at all costs. Seriously, stay home.
• Invest in a good helmet. Falling debris from dramatic confessions is a real hazard.
• Learn a useful skill. Cobbling, blacksmithing, anything that doesn't rely on noble patronage.
